Pros

They called me in about a week or so after I had applied. It took about three days of training with the Kirk T. and then I started that next Monday. They move fairly quickly with the hiring process and I loved working with my client. It is a convenient job right out of school that is a decent pay. It also is a beneficial, entry-level position if you are trying to get into the psychology/child-related field.

Cons

I was informed that I would be getting forty hours a week and quit my job abruptly without notice to start for the IBC. The BSC I had told me that my hours would be cut to thirty within two weeks of starting. The fact that they did not let me know this prior left me heated and frustrated with the company. Little did I know-it was only getting worse. Within a month, I had an entirely new BSC who briefed me with that my hours would be cut an additional five coming mid-November, when I had started only in September. So here I was, expecting a forty hour case yet it was slowly dwindling away. I was also driving an hour there and back which was not worth it either. Finally, in January, my hours got cut another five (now down to twenty), and I had it with this place. They do not really take care of the TSS's, which they make the most money off of. You should also have it be known that you will not get paid for the first six weeks-which they regret to enlighten you with unless you ask. Good luck if you get hired. Also, they tended to mess up my paycheck a few times so make sure you keep track of your hours if you do not want to get cheated. I would not work here again and advise others not to. I would suggest another agency that's more advanced, professional and knowledgeable.

We wish all of our former employees success as they continue to search for satisfying employment experiences. We are in a continuous quality improvement mode at the Institute and, although we have experienced some difficult employment situations over the years, the overwhelming majority of our 100+ staff report a very high level of satisfaction with our organization. We offer training and supervision at a more sophisticated level than any other employer in the field and our expectations of employees are comparably high, so we experience staff turn-over, but not always for the reasons claimed by unsuccessful former employees. Many of our former employees with Bachelors degrees are pursuing Graduate education full-time and return to us when they've received their Masters degrees.

Pros

Pretty good hourly rate compared to other companies in the field. Access to clients in multiple counties. Able to either accept or deny cases. For employees working 32+ hours/week: paid time off and eligibility for medical insurance benefits.

Cons

Absolutely horrendous organization of administration. Turnover rate is worrisome. There seems to be at least one new administrator every couple months. Many of the administrators are rude in their handlings with the clinicians. Some of the clinicians and administrators seem to be selfishly driven toward personal gain, forgetting the fact that our primary purpose is to help children and families in need! pI've personally experienced a BSC trying to get me fired by placing blame on me for a mistake she made...twice. I'm sorry to say, but I can't recommend working for this company.

The rate at which we are able to bill for treatment services was set in 1992 and has never changed -- in 24 years! We sympathize with employees and former employees and have actively sought change in State and other regulations that would improve the opportunities for employee compensation. We don't retain employees who selfishly pursue personal gain; we are strong advocates for our clients and their families, and for our staff. We are widely recognized as a vocal and persistent advocate for the needs of child mental health treatment providers in Pennsylvania and sincerely hope our former employees experience success in their ongoing search for satisfying employment throughout their careers.

Pros

The staff from TSS to Director have very positive attitudes. BSCs support each other. Most BSCs have worked here at least 4 years. Several were TSSs who stayed with the company when they finished grad school. The main Psychologists have been licensed over 25 years each. We work as a team. The IT system is top notch. We really help our clients!

Cons

No real cons after 4 years. Dealing with medical assistance and managed care companies can be frustrating.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful and heartfelt review of our company! We really do try our best to support all of our employees to the best of our ability. Our standards are very high and it's unfortunate when someone can't or won't meet them, but we celebrate having employed over 1,000 wonderful people over the past 30 years. We're a training facility, so turn-over is part of the process. Nevertheless we have several employees who have been with us for more than 10 years, so we have a good outlook for the future. Best wishes for the future to you too!
