Pros

Cool office building, right on the lake.

Cons

Speaking of that office building, it took me over a month to get a key for the building and it's locked during the day, so I had to awkwardly stand outside and wait for someone to notice me to let me in. Yet other people seemed to get theirs immediately, but found out they were part of the owner's family so that's probably why. I don't talk to many people, but it doesn't seem like really anyone enjoys their jobs. No formal training of any sort, kinda just a sink or swim situation and then the management team resorts to chirping and "applying pressure" to get you to perform if you aren't doing well, but yet won't respond for any requests for extra training. Very amateur run company with next to no leadership. Great group of people aside from management, I feel bad for them. Lots of people apparently are on their way out, so I wouldn't recommend taking a job here unless you're just looking for something for the short term and need a pay check.

Pros

Literally the worst career growth opportunity in Halifax, maybe Canada. Don’t get sucked into a slave for this company or their many aliases - The Synergy Effect, The Inside Coup North OC, Black Otter - They are all the same black hole where careers go to die.

Cons

You will be placed in a chair and forced to do the same repetitive task for your entire 9-5 day. You’ll be lucky to go to the bathroom without having to provide a written note. The company will try to sell the position as a marketing job - when in reality it's a sales position, trying to get Instagram thots to post about low-end products that exploit women's insecurities for a quick buck. Management will often use passive-aggressive emails and scare tactics to “motivate” team members because they don’t have enough experience in their field to provide helpful information. Seriously ask any manager their qualifications and you won’t hear a thing (Unless they speak up about their gym teacher experience or failed personal training career). Impossible to take any issues or concerns to management, they will use it as leverage to accuse you of not being on the company’s side and excuse to bully you endlessly - and then try to force you out of the company if you don’t comply with everything that they say (That's how the harassment lawsuit happened - Check ‘All Nova Scotia’). If the hilariously awful fake reviews aren’t enough to get you to stay away from this company, then consider the following: - There have been sexual harassment lawsuits in the past - They've been reported to the labor board on multiple occasions - Layoffs happen frequently and there is no job security - 60% of the company is apart of the CEO's family - The only people who get promoted/ perks are apart of the immediate family - Work on every single holiday because of ‘high sales demand’ - History of racially profiling their clients

Pros

- Fellow entry-level staff were awesome to work with (that's it, really) - Fall River's actually really beautiful this time of year - Sobeys had decent soups at lunchtime - You might get a holiday if management is in a good mood

Cons

- Incompetent & unprofessional management - Employees are undervalued & overworked - Amount of hours you actually work poorly reflected in the employment contract - Lack of job security
