Pros

They are flexible when it comes to times and the area you want to work in

Cons

1.Parents pay about 75 euros per hour yet teachers are paid only 17 euros . How is this fair? The customers expect a €75 service which is pretty difficult to honor when you're paid this little as a teacher. Only the school benefits from this deal. Also, you're paid only €1 per planning and they expect you to plan for 5 lessons in advance. 2. Extremely poor/ineffective materials and resources 3.Mediocre training sessions, waste of time 4.Manager showing up late for meetings and then complaining when people stopped coming to meetings because they were tired of always waiting for her to show up 5.No paid leave. 6.Terrible internal communication, management expects you to just do extra work for free 7. As a Qualified teacher (senior teacher let's say) you get €1 extra per lesson. That's it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We value all input and take concerns seriously. I’d like to address the points you raised and provide some clarity. 1. Pay vs. Customer Fees: We understand that the difference between what parents pay and what teachers receive can seem significant. However, it’s important to recognize that the company bears a wide range of costs, including teacher National Insurance, taxes, operational expenses, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to support both students and teachers. While we strive to offer competitive pay, our margins are tightly managed. As a company, we are constantly working to balance fair compensation with the financial realities of running a business. Additionally, teachers are paid for all canceled lessons, and planning time is compensated as per our policies. 2. Materials and Resources: We continuously work to improve our curriculum and resources. If the materials were not up to your standards, we appreciate your feedback and will make it a priority to review and enhance them. We are committed to providing high-quality resources and encourage teachers to share specific suggestions for improvement. 3. Training Sessions: We are aware that training is essential for teachers to feel equipped in their roles, and we aim to make our training sessions as effective as possible. We regret that you found them to be ineffective. We are always looking for ways to improve and ensure that our training aligns with the needs of our teachers. 4. Managerial Issues: Punctuality and respect for everyone’s time are important to us. We sincerely apologize for any delays in meetings and understand how frustrating it can be to wait. We will take this feedback into account to improve the management of meetings in the future. 5. Paid Leave: Regarding paid leave, as per the terms of your contract, we adhere to the labor laws that apply to your specific employment status. While paid leave is not part of the contract for all positions, we do strive to offer other benefits, such as compensation for travel time and support for professional development. 6. Internal Communication: Clear communication is crucial, and we apologize if you felt there was a lack of support. To clarify, we have never asked teachers to do extra work without compensation. Any additional responsibilities are always clearly communicated and are compensated accordingly. We will continue to refine our internal communication processes to ensure that expectations are transparent and that support is always available. 7. Qualified Teacher Pay: Regarding your comment on senior teacher compensation, we must clarify that senior teachers are not paid €1 extra per lesson. In fact, senior teachers receive a fixed amount every month for their additional responsibilities and services. This is designed to ensure that their work is compensated fairly for the value they bring to the company, which includes mentoring and providing support to other teachers. We value your contributions to the team and are committed to improving where possible. Thank you again for sharing your perspective, and we’re always open to further discussion if you have any additional suggestions or concerns. Best regards, Head of HR, TLC

Pros

Students and parents are very cooperative. Payments and paper work are issued in a timely manner to all parties concerned. TLC carefully finds the best work timings for each teacher in accordance with their personal schedule. Some of the material created by the centre can be pedagogically interesting and has potential.

Cons

TLC is a brand and as such, if you are an experienced or trained teacher, you might become quite frustrated with having to strictly follow the centre's teaching methods and content without any pedagogical leeway to incorporate material that might make learning more appealing and student-centred. If you indeed exercise your own judgement and take any liberties regarding the use of TLC content or any addition to it, please be aware that the centre's administrator is capable of showing up to a class to discuss with you the fact that TLC considers your teaching methods to be wrong and how you should strictly follow the brand's content. This discussion may take place in front of students and parents listening in disarray, thereby possibly affecting the carefully built teacher-student and teacher-parent relationship.

Pros

Flexible time table, I imagine it would be good if your a student or just looking for some extra cash.

Cons

No lesson plans, some of the courses don't even have a syllabus. Training provided is poor, no training was offered when we had to move online last year. All training hours and meetings are unpaid but are still mandatory. When online classes were required due to COVID-19 restrictions teachers were not payed when students didn't show up. Travel costs not covered in a meaningful way.
