Pros

Some interesting clients but all the good projects go to the seniors

Cons

Terrible work/life balance, bad pay, unprofessional boss. No HR, strict on when you can take vacation. NO culture at all. It's literally a work house. It's also no diversity, everyone is white here.

Thank you for providing feedback on your experience at The Workhouse Inc. We'd like to take this opportunity to address some inaccuracies and provide further insights into our company. As a small business, it's true that we don't have an in-house HR department. However, we do employ a third-party HR professional to address any issues impartially. This resource has always been available to our staff. Additionally, our workplace has maintained diversity for over 10 years, and we have been fortunate to continue doing so. Therefore, the claim about a lack of diversity is simply untrue. As a design studio, we understand and value the importance of a diverse team in bringing different perspectives to our work.

Pros

- Overall friendly and inclusive environment - Fun team activities - Some interesting projects - Flexible time off request - Hybrid model - Good for first design job but not for long term

Cons

- Bad communication among the management team, sometimes handing over projects without consulting each other leading to conflicting points of view - Little to no room for advancement, no bonus - Meager salary but expect a lot of responsibilities, raise isn't high enough even if you take on multiple roles and have been there for a while - Passive aggressive, management rarely ever takes accountability for their shortcomings - Expect you to work during the holiday, you are basically given homework to work on during the week of Christmas and are expected to be on call

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you appreciated our inclusive environment, team activities, and flexible approach to time off. We recognize that project handovers can occasionally cause miscommunication, and we’re working to improve coordination for smoother transitions. Growth and advancement are important to us, and while we know meaningful progress takes time and collaboration, we’re dedicated to supporting everyone on our team. Our salaries align with RGD industry standards, and we strive to offer fair, competitive compensation, with regular discussions around opportunities for raises. Finally, we want to clarify that we’ve been fortunate in recent years to offer a flexible holiday schedule that includes extra time off around the winter holidays as an added perk beyond regular vacation days. This is communicated to all team members, though we may occasionally need staff to be on call for certain projects to meet client needs. That said, these instances have been extremely rare. As we continue to improve, we appreciate your insights and thank you again for sharing your thoughts.
