Pros

The company is in a big, growing market that is ready for disruption. It is taking a bold approach to disrupting the market by building an innovative product built on top of cutting edge technology. And the early team is top-notch -- bringing a combination of technical, domain and business experience that is a great asset for the team. In addition, the company has raised enough capital from top tier VCs to be able to tackle this market. As an engineer, this is an opportunity to work with a great team and work on cutting edge problems, hard problems. The team is working on computer vision, machine learning and personalization algorithms, a scalable platform to ingest and process data and an innovate app experience. In other words, there are opportunities across the stack to solve hard problems and innovate. The technology stack is modern and is really pushing the boundary on what can be accomplished. If you are interested in working in a big space, an ambitious product, cutting edge tech and build a big successful business from the ground up, then this is a great place.

Cons

As you would expect with a startup of our size and ambition, this is not a place if you are looking for well-defined plans and predictability. We are constantly learning and iterating and things change fast. You have to be comfortable with some degree of chaos.

Pros

Working on cutting edge of technology (micro-services, docker, kubernetes, deep-learning, grpc, graphql, react native etc.) Great ownership and end to end visibility about product road map, each engineer has an impact on the future of the company. Culture of the company is really great, where if cares about each employee, fosters innovation and making sure everyone's opinion is valued.

Cons

Not really at this time.

Pros

They offer a lot of flexibility in work locations and schedules. For example, I work remotely and have recently taken some time off to help with our new born. The engineering team is top notch. There's a good mix of experience levels and types of work to do. Everyone is intrinsically motivated, which really keeps the ball moving towards the goal line. When I am visiting the head office, there are plenty of snacks and we do lunches or dinner events too. Overall, everyone works hard but there's plenty of fun to go with the work.

Cons

The benefits could be more robust.
