This reviewer’s opinion is coloured by the fact that he was caught using Thomas FX computers to run his Accounting business on the side, during working hours at Thomas FX, and, after a thorough investigation by the CGA Ethics committee, he was found to have engaged in “unethical and unprofessional conduct” and was disciplined and fined. He aggressively verbally abused our Sales Manager and threatened, in grammatically incorrect English, to leave negative reviews for Thomas FX on social media every chance he got. This review is just one example of many.

Pros

Actual work was enjoyable. Small company so able to do be accountable and responsible for your own work.

Cons

Owners of company were unpleasant to work for and unpleasant to be around. This created a toxic working environment.

An emotionally "toxic" and unsafe workplace

Pros

- Wide variety of tasks - Some inside knowledge about the film industry can be gained

Cons

- Employees were treated poorly: management treated employees like they were inferior (e.g., petty insults from management, disrespectful tone of speech) - Workplace had many obvious and unnecessary safety hazards despite management's claim that safety was a priority - Management allowed the supervisor to disregard safety This may be of interest: during my time at Thomas FX, the CEO hired 2 people who then chose to leave within a two weeks of their hire date because of the way they were treated. In hindsight, I should have left much earlier but I was too young and naive.

Many current and former employees would disagree with this opinion. Expectations for employees are clear, and Thomas FX respects our hard-working, diligent, and competent employees, and encourages employees who are struggling, to ask questions. Safety in the workplace is of paramount concern. We adhere to all WCB Work Safe regulations and guidelines, and our WCB record is nearly flawless. Only one claim in 50 years, likely deliberately self-inflicted, by an employee who stuck his foot under a forklift to qualify for benefits, which he bragged about to a coworker. Thomas FX is a busy company, with a fast pace of operations, requiring dedication, focus, and energy to keep up with the flow, which is made clear during the hiring process. On occasion, an employee finds that they are unable to keep up and elects to leave, or is let go, when it is apparent that they are unable to meet the company’s minimum performance standards.
