Pros

The office is visually nice

Cons

Made up job roles for those who fit the Instagram profile. Women are not a valuable commodity and are looked down on by senior management Toxic environment where cliques are well known If you are not their type of person you physically feel it by being mentally tormented The exec board are so out of touch it’s laughable yet portray a one team approach. Ask any staff member what the turnover of staff is - it’s a revolving door. Run by bullies who think that they are bigger than what they are

Pros

The people who do the actual work are smart, some of the smartest you’ll work with. Colleagues are good at what they do, helpful, respectful, and humble to boot. A day-to-day where you are challenged and regularly solve interesting problems alongside curious co-workers you can learn from. TodayTix operates like a typical startup, fast-moving initiatives, lots of testing, trial and error, and iteration, which is a pro for folks who like that kind of thing. If you’re someone who has good instincts and is willing to ask for forgiveness rather than permission, package your ideas well and you’ll be able to push a good number of things forward here. Other pros include 401k matching (rare in startups), snacks and sometimes dogs in office, nice views in TriBeCa, free Broadway shows from partners, lunch and happy hour once a week, stock options. Leadership is good at selling so the value of the company is high and positioned to be acquired for a good sum but vesting doesn’t happen until year 2. Externally, the brand is strong in the theater and niche tech so a good resume builder for tech work. Probably the only cool place to work for people who really love theater.

Cons

The leadership. Plagued by inexperienced and toxic leadership from the very top with distrust, poor management, and insecurity. Depending on the team, VPs either don’t want to or make poor decisions but don’t want to be accountable. This can be used to your advantage if you want to take on pet projects and build out your experience since leaders don’t want to take ownership. Other toxic behavior: nepotism, VP monitoring direct reports’ social media, tolerance and protection for leaders who push employees to tears, no WFH or flexible hours policy because they doubt you when they don’t see you. On occasion, the co-founder will start calling your personal cell outside of work hours. Leaders trap good talent because they’re adept at selling the dream to the inexperienced and doe-eyed. Employees who left have jumped on to companies like Google, Instagram, Facebook, Disney, Amazon, iHeartMedia and other D2C startup brands like Casper, or tech brands like ClassPass. Few left feeling positively about TodayTix. You’ll advance if you are willing to have no life, play the game, and befriend leadership. Those who can’t be bothered and are worth their weight in their work see it for what it is, put in their time but eventually jump ship towards something better. If you’re looking for a career pit-stop or stepping stone and a great peer network, TodayTix is a place for that, otherwise don’t get attached.

Pros

Deliveroo once a week

Cons

The founders. Pathetic, thin skinned management culture. Extreme passive aggressive behaviour towards employees. Extreme, unprofessional in-fighting and office politics.
