Pros

Some coworkers, standard health benefits

Cons

This is an honest review and I've worked at this company for a number of years. First off, the CEO is terrible. He does NOT care about the employees. He has been forcing everyone to come back to the office, disregarding the current pandemic and numerous covid variants, multiple confirmed covid cases from employees, and concerns from employees. Everything that comes out of his mouth are lies. HR and management are all sheep and follows what he does blindly. Company does not use any logical reasoning or critical thinking. Second, the office environment is deplorable. They claim to clean and sanitize regularly but it's still very disgusting. There are no windows and very poor ventilation/circulation of air. Many employees do NOT wash their hands after using the restroom. There are always dead bugs (cockroaches) lying around the office. They do not deep clean the carpets (I can only count the one time they steam cleaned the carpet in all my time working there). Third, the office is so packed with employees that there are not enough parking spots. Before covid, people would have to double or triple park and would have to constantly move their cars to not block others. Now, even with half capacity there are still not enough parking. There are several containers blocking half of the parking yet they still want to bring everyone back to full capacity. Fourth, heavy on the micromanagement. If you don't like to be micro-managed or want management constantly on your back, then this is not the company for you. I could go on and on about all the cons but these are the major RED FLAGS of this company. They are very old school and will work you like a dog. Not much growth and advancement opportunities. Work here at your own risk.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Please allow us to address your concerns as below – 1. Until today, Topocean has NOT asked the employees to return to the office 100%. All departments have the hybrid schedule and are rotating to work in the office. The main reason we have not asked all employees to return to the office at full capacity is because we put our employees’ safety as our first priority. 2. Thus far, all confirmed cases at Topocean were NOT work related. While it’s unfortunate to have employees contracted outside of work, Topocean does not show any signs of spreading in the office. We have installed a personal barrier for each employee to add an extra layer of protection and follows strict protocols on temperature checking/mask mandate/vaccination policy on employees/visitors in the office. Again, this is to protect the safety of our employees. 3. We perform 1) monthly on pest control service, 2) semi-annual on carpet cleaning, 3) change the AC filter quarterly, and 4) daily cleaning with janitorial services to all offices. As Company receives the confirmed case notification, Company has sanitized all offices/warehouses (on the next day) with certificates provided by the disinfecting/sanitizing company. 4. We understand the parking situation – due to the situation at port, the empty containers were not returned. Our managements have been trying to resolve this issue and in events like this, we have offered employees to work from home temporarily. We hope this clears up the confusion/concerns for you. HR and Management welcome all employees’ feedback/comments to help us improve the company. Please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you.

Pros

-The benefits are pretty good relative to the area. -The pay was fair to slightly above average.

Cons

Everything else. Management will take you for a spin. They tell you to ask questions, but lose patience with you if you do. If you try to do it yourself and get it wrong, they call you out for not asking questions. They encourage you to "do things your way" but won't hesitate to micromanage you even if you achieve the desired result; from the way you speak on the phone to how you draft emails or use their software. Also, most of them speak in broken or heavily accented English, so communication can be tough. At first, the employees seem "friendly" but they are actually just disconnected. They don't confront you not because they're nice but because they don't really care about you, meaning there is no unity here unless you are part of the established cliques. I spoke with different departments due to my role and everyone is the same: hostile and unsupportive. The rare supportive ones lose patience. It almost seems like each department is a different hydra head and are only looking out for themselves. The management needs a serious overhaul. They are great at producing results for the CEOs, but horrible in integrating new employees. The CEOs are ghosts, you'll never see them. HR doesn't help but it's not their fault since the problem is that management is rotten at the roots. Many of them were here for decades already, so it's hard to change the status quo and their old way of doing things. To be fair, if you somehow join and are BY DEFAULT the type of employee they want and you already have the skills, then the benefits and pay are actually quite nice. That's just it though, this is their hiring style. They will not nurture you, there is no (adequete) training, and if you fall down they will not help you up. You will just fall and fall and fall until they decide to push you to quit so they don't pay unemployment. In summary, the work environment is cutthroat and sometimes toxic. They are stubborn and cling to old ways of doing things, it is not a modern-style office. Management is good at producing results but horrible at helping new employees. There is poor training and nobody cares about you unless you already produce results. If you have the personality and skill right out the box, then I can see the job being decent for a few years. Otherwise, save yourself the headache. I plan to leave after covid passes myself.

Pros

Nothing but a few nice people

Cons

Traditional Asian company, favoritisms by owner, power bully by management, nonstop gossipy everywhere, no future unless you choose right side. This is the place where can destroy your passion for works and trust with people. You won’t have chance to grow unless you have personal relationships with the owner or management.
