Pros

parking is easy office is ok

Cons

the husband and wife owners are self proclaimed business gurus despite having no previous success who micro manage and everyone is in daily fear of being sacked there is a culture of constant criticism and sometimes shouting and screaming depending what mood the bosses are in it’s more like a cult than a business and nothing you do is ever good enough, or they just change the goal posts and say you have failed the benefits are non existent no sick or pay rises and no hr department so they get away with bullying behaviours I have never worked in such unprofessional place and i can honestly say working here has been damaging to my mental health not surprising such a high staff turnover avoid this company and these unethical people at all costs can not think of a worse place to work or worse bosses to have

I am sorry to hear that you didn’t feel engaged positively in all elements of the business and leadership. We know how important good managers are, especially in a fast-moving business as Tots. The team continues to grow and we continue to make positive steps to enable the team to develop. This includes benchmarking our culture against a global measure by giving everyone in the team anonymous online surveys every week, covering all aspects of their experience here. We score really well and so I’m confident in saying that your experience is not reflective more generally, but we are always open to constructive feedback and the need to constantly improve. Pros

Great business, great team and I enjoy coming into work each day. My impression is that Directors are focused and work hard on growing their business while cultivating and developing the team. Huge focus on employee engagement and motivation through clear strategic and individual performance goals, regular weekly team meetings, regular 121 meetings with Line Managers, monthly team lunches, monthly team training sessions, weekly team meetings, software to listen to employee voices and gain regular employee feedback, weekly peer to peer nominations for ‘shining star’ recognition and employee away day activities. A company where you are accountable for delivering the role you are here to do – a sense that everyone’s contribution to the business really matters and makes a difference which for me, results in a good sense of involvement and job satisfaction.

Horrendous Experience

Do not be fooled by the “family culture” they seem to brag about. They will bang on about culture and wellbeing but will not hesitate to fire you on the spot if you show any signs of unhappiness. If they ask you to open up to them, do not. They will use this against you. Toxic workplace with unprofessional management and senior team members. Prepare to be belittled, bullied and disrespected, especially if you are younger. One on one meetings were used to personally bully and intimidate. This lead to anxiety and dread every time you found yourself alone with your line manager. The husband and wife managers have no idea how to run a business, let alone manage staff. This leaves staff feeling uncertain and unsettled, constantly awaiting the passive aggressive email or impromptu meeting where staff are grilled over pointless things. If you want to be respected, have room for growth and excel as a young professional, find somewhere else to work.

I’m really sorry to see you have a negative outlook of your time here and we haven’t lived up to your expectations but I appreciate your honesty. Family values and wellbeing are really important to us and we continue to work hard through a number of initiatives, including training, to ensure that these values remain central to our company culture. We are sorry that you feel that we didn’t do enough to demonstrate this in your particular set of circumstances. We do have plenty examples of where young people have flourished, having joined the Tots team at entry level and moved onto more senior roles within the business. We hope that you are now in a role that suits you and are able to develop.
