Not Worth the Hassle

Pros

Friendly management who know how to seel what they do.

Cons

Walking door to door selling services does not justify the title "Account Manager" and after attending business school, starting at the bottom is not what I intended. The fact I had to haggle to paid ANYTHING during training speaks volumes for the company. Yes, I only worked for 1 week, however, NOBODY can live off of making NOTHING - especially during a training period. A 50-60 hour work week for "training" should not result in $123 of commission that you file on a W-2.

What’s really going...

Pros

The community and friendship is great. But when you are told your job depends on you going out and spending your money for team night, family night, and leader night, what do you have left? Yes, there are lots of high fives to go around. But that’s it. The high fives hide the fact that your boss is making money every day off you going out to work till you have nothing left. It’s 100% commission. And yes, the interview process tells you “all about the company.” So if you aren’t happy with the job, it’s on you. But don’t go in to thinking you’ll be making the salary that they tell you. You can make $100 in a week. Maybe $500. Maybe $0. That’s the problem. You’re taught how to lie and trick people into believing they will make $1000+ a week. Get 10 people to believe that, that need to make a set amount, and you’ll possibly get a promotion. No certainty.

Cons

This jobs is a pyramid scheme. You go in to an office to stand around and practice your sales pitch for a couple of hours before going in to the field (walking around and knocking on doors for 8-10 hours). Yes, you may make a sale. More times than not you end up getting on “customers” nerves, and getting warned to leave the neighborhood by the cops. But don’t worry, you may not make any money but your boss did. If you need quick cash, and can talk to strangers constantly, this may be the job for you. There is no real opportunity of growth. It all depends on the people you get to come on board and the money they make in a set amount of time. You’re never in full control. 100% commisssion and no benefits.

Hey, Reviewer! We appreciate the feedback but definitely need to make sure some things are noted here. Our team night, which is hosted once a week, is optional - not mandatory. Pyramid schemes are illegal; if you're thinking of an MLM, we also differ considerably from those. You aren't asked to "get people to come on board" and you aren't paid based on "the money they make in a set amount of time." It's ironic that you never mention our clients, but let us confidently say that AT&T and DirecTv, two of the 2 largest names in the cable/satellite entertainment industry, would not be associated with anything of the sort. We think it's really clear you didn't work with our company and welcome if you do have any questions, to address them to our human resources team at hr@tovaincraleigh.com. Take care and best of luck to you. Sincerely, Tova Inc Management Review
