Pros
The main reason for writing this review is to help those interested in gaining employment at Tower to have solid understanding of the work environment and what can be expected.
Working in a marketing agency is fun, but it also come with many difficulties, some of which I will highlight below.
--My Experience So Far--
Working at Tower has been an excellent experience. I can say gladly that this has been the best work environment for me personally. I have worked for other marketing agencies (national and international), which were great experiences. However they don’t compare to working at Tower. This has given me great appreciation for the work/life balance I receive from Tower.
The team is encouraged to use their skills and initiatives to problem-solve and drive innovation from within. This allows for the whole company to be flexible and competitive in a market that is saturated agencies.
Personally, I have been able to craft my own direction within the company. This has been probably been one of the most rewarding aspects of working at Tower. I’ve been encouraged to craft and redefine what we were originally doing in terms of Internet Marketing and guide the company through a major change.
This change did not come overnight; it took a lot of brainstorming, meetings, and time for my strategies to be accepted by the whole team. I was able to invest effort, talents and skills into something I whole-heartedly believed in and was able to enjoy that success with the whole team. So ask yourself:
• How many companies do you know of allow you to take a portion of the company in a new direction?
• How many owners are willing to trust their employee in driving new change that would affect the company’s business model
• How many owners get in the way of their own businesses success because they did not let innovation from their employee thrive?
• How many of you feel as if your boss trusts you in make small or large decisions?
I have worked client side and agency side in terms of marketing and I have never found a company who is this willing to have their employees drive change and success. Tower is the exception.
--Pros--
• Upper management is always available to talk and discuss ideas, strategies and figuring out solutions.
• Flexible schedules during the week. If you have doctor appointments or anything important you can flex your time and make it up again that week.
• You are never expected to work weekends. Does it happen sometimes? Yes, but it is very few and far between.
• You get to learn about business. While we are a marketing agency, we work with large and small businesses and you learn about operations, budgets and communication. It does not matter your position at tower everyone gets to meet the client and for me that is important.
• If I have problem the management team care enough to help resolve it. We all have problems that arise at work, whether it is business or personal. The management team shows a considerable amount of empathy toward their employee and bend over backward to try and make things work for the better of the team (not just the individual).
• The emphasis is not about make huge amounts of revenue, but rather creating a work place that you can be proud of and make a good living.
• Work/life balance is encouraged. Tower’s management know that having time with family, taking vacation and time just for yourself are important to your work life and they respect that.
Cons
• Being in a small company it is much easier for other teammates to have big ideas that they believe we, as a company should implement. This is a con because it can be very time consuming trying to curb the ideals of new employees who don’t have a large amount of experience under their belt.
• If you don’t speak up, you won’t be heard. While this is not big con, someone who is very introverted may not be heard. As a small company there are many people with big voices and we get excited easily. As a result some people may not thrive in this work environment. However, we do have introverts who do work here and that have been huge assets because they have been able to assert themselves when needed.
