Pros

Health insurance, some really nice and smart people work here

Cons

The 3 reviews posted before the review from the intern were posted by management to mitigate the negative reviews. Tradition's business model is designed to exploit people early in their career. They burn them out, then hand all of their work to a manager to cash in on when they inevitably leave. If you're considering working here, ask how many associates they have hired over the last couple years and then see who is still there. Office environment is toxic and there is no flexibility to work from home. The "HR team" is the CEO's assistant.

We are sorry your time with Tradition was not as successful and fruitful as your peers. Unfortunately, your comments are not accurate. In the 18 years that Tradition Energy has been in business, we have grown to become the industry’s largest energy risk management and procurement consultant in the country, in many ways as a result of our high employee retention rate and the many Associates that have progressed to become managers over their time here.

Pros

Health Care, Work Life Balance. That's it.

Cons

This company may have been good 15 years ago, but it hasn't moved an inch since. This is where you go to kill your career. You will be doing the same work in year 10 as you were in year 1. Management is completely inept and spends more time surfing the internet than doing work. There is zero transparency and your status in the company is based on if you're somehow connected to the CEO and nothing else. Pay is not competitive at all. Despite being good, health benefits do not make up for cheap compensation. Company is also cheap in technology (outsourced/bad results), office supplies (all soft drinks, real coffee etc is gone), and data services (unethical practice). All of these have led to a ghost town of an office in every department which is filled once in a while by cheap inexperienced college kids who end up leaving for the same reasons within two years.

Thank you for your review of Tradition's Brokerage side. It is unfortunate that you are not having a positive experience here. I would suggest you immediately reach out to your Manager to discuss your career trajectory and path. There are career opportunities for top performers who strive to do more. If you have concerns about your managers, we suggest that you reach out to HR to discuss immediately. Our Health Benefits are an important part of the overall compensation of our employees. You may make more money doing the same thing somewhere else, but in all likelihood, your benefits will not be as good. There is often a trade-off with these things. If you feel your compensation is not satisfactory, I recommend again immediately speaking with your manager to discuss your performance and why that is deserving of more competitive compensation. I suggest outlining in detail all of your contributions and successes in a formal way and being proactive about what you feel is more deserved. Regarding our frugality around office supplies, soft drinks and coffee, it is important to look at why these things might have been scaled back. They seem minor, and are a nice perk, but they are incredibly expensive for a company of our size, not to mention the abuse of these perks which exponentially increases the cost. When looking for necessary cost cutting opportunities, as all companies must do to succeed, we prefer to look at some of the non-essentials, rather than headcount. When faced with cutting free soda, versus terminating someone's job, the soda will lose every time here. We hope you can appreciate that we are most interested in ensuring the longevity of our employees first. Anything we can do as an added benefit after that, I can assure you we will do our best. Unsure why you feel the office is a ghost town? When there is not a pandemic, the majority of seats in our office are taken. We have some extra space for growth but that represents roughly 5-10% of the overall seating. It could be perceived as a ghost town right now due to the pandemic and the fact that we are only allowed by the State to have 50% of our staff in the office. If you have specific ideas on how the business can operate more professionally and successfully, I suggest you bring those to your superiors or HR for discussion. Thank you.

Pros

Great health plan & work life balance.

Cons

Cheap company - does not invest in their employees nor pays them fairly. Extremely low pay for the amount of work - salaries are NOT competitive. Zero training. Awful culture - yelling occurs often. Zero transparency. HIGH turnover rate for clear reasons. Not a supportive environment. Workloads are disproportionate. Poor communication. No growth opportunities. Amount of "stuff" some people have to deal with is unfathomable. Years behind with technology. Nothing tradition offers is better than any other company. Organization is ran like a circus. Company is not young, younger companies have larger success and don't have issues. Company probably writes most of these reviews on here.

Thank you for your review. Your feedback is valuable to us. I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience here. I am confused by your pros and cons. In the pros, you list Great Health Plan and great Work Life Balance. But, in the Cons you say we are a Cheap Company that does not invest in their employees. Health benefits are one of the largest investments any company can make in an employee next to salary. There is a very broad spectrum of health benefits in this country and a very broad range of cost to the employee. You said that we do not offer anything better than any other company. So, I assume you have worked for several other organizations in your career. As such, you must know then that our health benefits being close to free is extremely difficult to find in an employer in this country nowadays. When you say our salaries are not competitive, they are competitive for our industry. If you are comparing them to other industries, then there will always be disparities. Our positions are highly unique to our industry. Therefore, it's impossible to compare salaries. All of the reviews are written by current and former employees. I, nor the business can control the reviews. Any person can only post one review on this website per company. I understand if you have had a negative experience, but it does not mean that others did not have or are not having a positive experience. Sometimes, a company and a person are just not a good fit. Also, working at a restaurant can be a highly rewarding and exciting career path. :) We hope you have found a company that has met all of your expectations and we thank you for your contributions to Tradition's success.
