Getting Worse

Pros

Nice people to work with, usually interesting work, some flexibility in working hours.

Cons

A lot of key members have left, and everyone else is expected to pick up the slack with slim hopes of those members being replaced. Compensation is mediocre and advancement is unclear at best, my compensation over 5 years and 1 promotion has not kept up with inflation. Despite having a job that could be done fully remote I'm still required to go into the office 3 days a week and I can't have both Monday and Friday as my work from home days. There's just no trust in the employees. Additionally the health care is bad and has an outright ban on transgender healthcare. Being purchased by the Koch Brothers seems to have really exacerbated everything.

Pros

None.... Everything is for the benefit of the company

Cons

Security department is led by a person that has zero interest in the business or the people, control freak with little to no knowledge despite the LinkedIn profile, runs the department on fear and his way or the highway, toxic environment with zero tolerance for personal mental health or well being, paid way under the market rate, steer clear ...... Not worth the hassle

Pros

The people who work in the Seattle office are really good and caring employees.

Cons

All of the management and HR decisions are made by Koch and the disconnected management team in Virginia, the TNS company relies on the Seattle office and customer to provide the most of the corporate income stream, but they do not rely on that organization to make decisions for the success of the company. This company should eventually fail.

Pros

Pay is fairly good, Office and the people working there are competent and nice people. Fairly good PTO policy, Overall project being worked on is interesting and has generally positive societal impact.

Cons

TNS is a very old-school company, and there is a lot of expecting people to be able to take long calls at all times instead of using chat or email to solve problems. Structure is very heirarchical, and teams are often siloed, with individual contributors actively reprimanded for communicating across team boundaries. Ground-up innovation is discouraged in favor of top-down central planning and secret agendas. LOTS of company politics - many senior personnel are unqualified and clearly only in their positions due to nepotism or tenure. Work on client requests is often delayed or not even delivered due to problem individuals acting as bottlenecks. Senior management seems to have no control or power over these individuals. HR seems to look down on employees in other offices, and has suddenly changed or not delivered on promises for employee benefits. HR will also not accommodate LGBTQ individuals unless strictly legally required to. I would recommend staying away, but they have outsourced all hiring to India anyway.

Pros

TNS was a very good place to work, predominantly because of the great people that do excellent work, and are prepared to share their knowledge and experiences. The salary level for my role was very fair, and the team I was in was excellent.

Cons

TNS is a heavily matrix organisation, with leadership for divisions and departments split across diverse geographies.
