The failure of this company falls squarely on the shoulders of its leadership.
You know the story. Cluster B man surrounded by a cult following of yes men and women. There are people who have tried to save them (and the company) from themselves, but they remain too insulated and out of touch. Can't tell if they're incompetent, con artists, delusional, or both.
They just let a bunch of people go after not paying anyone for over a week. During that time, we received emails and had meetings to assure us we are safe and valued, and this was simply a matter of waiting on funds from our investors. Couldn't even wait for the wire to come through before laying half our colleagues off though. This was also about a month shy of our first vesting cliff. Several people actually had their emails disconnected, spent the day waiting for the call, only to get a text saying it was a mistake.
Despicable behavior. Everyone they didn't let go is pissed and actively looking for a new job. And don't even get me started on straight up lying to clients about the capability of the product.
