Pros

Amazing research, driven academics, collaborative colleagues. It's a pleasure to think we are contributing to bring this research to life.

Cons

Poor managerial practices are difficult to challenge, I worked in a team with a very hierarchic mindset, and was told I questioned too much why we did the things the way we did them. Salary for life in London is not much.

Pros

Easy going laid back environment. Good holiday entitlement plus extra leave at Xmas / Easter. Pay is good.

Cons

No performance management so there's no real incentive to go the extra mile. Underperformers will get the same annual pay rise as high achievers. Too many inefficient staff including managers. Too many promotions based on favouritism & not results. Most sections in Central IT are under resourced. Largescale improvement initiatives, such as TOPS, often wither and die.
