Pros

Good business culture, you are allowed to take as long as you want for lunch breaks and dress very casually. Can speak to upper management, but that only allows you to see how dilusional they are about the company's future without any kind of concrete plan.

Cons

A company that has such an amazing passion for the future of this planet should not beef up its products' abilities to its partners and customers as much as it does. It also promises a great deal of compensation to new employees that is completely unattainable and causes an extrordinarily high turnover rate. Many of UGE's employees are in "VP" jobs but have no real experience in the field and has no idea how to manage people underneath them. No one in the company is much older than 30, and that should tell you something about what you are getting into both as a potential employee and a "partner" to them.

Pros

Flexible vacation schedule. This is likely because they cannot really enforce based on UGE being a very difficult place to retain employees.

Cons

Although the company more than doubled its staff and increased its market presence while I worked there, this was not based on increased revenue or profitability. The technology never worked, but the company continues to believe that it is better than the several hundred other competitors who have also failed in their sector. I am not sure what was worse - marketing overpriced scrap metal under the guise of environmentalism - or consistently lying to customers, employees, and ourselves on an hourly basis. One could talk forever about the lack of benefits, delusional 'leaders, inconsistent direction or compensation that teetered around minimum wage. Perhaps the worst thing is that to this day, the company is still hawking unproven equipment to innocent clients around the world- creating lasting damage to the cause of green energy on a global scale.

Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience was not what you hoped for, and that we differ so much in the understanding of UGE's mission. Being in a start-up is challenging, and we agree there is a lot to improve on, hopefully this much is clear as we continue to make great strides and push forward. Clearly we disagree on the specifics, but nonetheless wish you the best of luck in the future!

Pros

Very bright and hard working staff. These star employees are the only reason why the company has done as well as it has.

Cons

The company is trying to do too many things it does not have the capacity to do. The company has great ambition but the fact that it is owned and bankrolled by a foreign entity ensures that change will only happen if there is significant risk to the company's shareholders. Management is incompetent- relevant improvements and new strategy suggested by employees is ignored and dismissed. Most of the managers do not actually understand the startup principles that they expound so often. From 2011-2012, the core focus of the business and its territories were changed so many times that many are unsure if the company knows what it's doing. Business development staff and engineers that worked at the company for several years still were not awarded equity, benefits, or any tangible appreciation of their hard work. Opportunities for advancement do not exist. This is not a social enterprise. It is a Chinese company dedicated to pushing product (of questionable quality) out of the door.
