A company with potential

Pros

USPC has, I believe, a fair pay scale. The medical benefit packages are competitive and reasonable. There are some perks such as a profit sharing plan that pays out when the financial plan is met. There are quality and safety incentive plans and annual company picnic (on site).

Cons

The company is owned by a huge acquisition corporation, Jarden Corporation. This makes is a highly impersonal environment. Employees have come to feel like they are just a number. Just a warm body feeding corporate greed in an attempt to earn a meal. Morale in the production area has nearly died since the company was purchased by Jarden. The only lift morale has had recently is in the success the production teams have had in increasing production and quality while reducing waste. We have received high praise for this in the quarterly meetings. Unfortunately the praise is quickly followed by "We have to all work harder to continue to drive costs down and production and quality up."

Pros

- Excellent work life balance - Not much else, unfortunately. - One benefit is that with extremely high turnover (one role at our company has a new pair of employees every year), we're always hiring. So you can always tell your friends about openings.

Cons

- Petty culture - Incompetent CEO - Dying category and everyone at the office knows it - No motivation at the office - No job security - Awful benefits, insurance is the worst I've ever seen at a company - You're going to feel simultaneously stressed out and bored.

Pros

Creator of many great reasons to seek therapy. Perfect opportunity to leave your family! You get $2 chicken sandwiches or pizza sometimes :)

Cons

Non competitive pay Upper managers pick favorites Morons off the street are hired more often than we promote from within Cannot maintain proper staffing Poor communication Argumentative leadership Managers sleeping with direct reports Fail to take care of their machinery, then wonders why everything runs bad Poor decisions in sales, management, or quality only seem to affect the operators Quality control went out the window years ago Union sympathizers are targeted When the company slips up, your work life balance is what's punished The company has to work 7 days a week and cut all corners to maintain the illusion of keeping up with demand. Any concerns raised to the parent company can also lead to you getting fired HR exists only to probe into union activity. A lot of smiling faces just looking out for the company that provide zero help or solutions. Leadership will actively target "troublemakers" during meetings for things they did not do Failure to follow up on promises "Bonuses" have withered away to 1/10th of what they were 7 years ago, that is if you get one at all. There is a serious lack of training Some people are doing the work of 2-3 positions without proper compensation They'll use you for your extra skillsets, but only when it's convenient for them and they will not pay you for it without a fight. Strongly works against union supporters as if they're Ford in the 1930s.
