Pros

- Benefits are fine but not something you won't get at a different company. - Atmosphere is relaxed and micromanaging is rare. - International company. Nice to meet people from all around the world. - Friendly colleagues.

Cons

- The company introduced an incentive program where you can PURCHASE shares lol. I fail to understand how me purchasing something is supposed to keep me incentivized rather than employees getting shares, as a bonus after x years of employment. - No bonuses because they're no budget but we can hire a CMO for over 100k a year and a dev rel for at least just as much. - Very young employees in entry-level positions which is fine until some of them decide to behave like teenagers and do things because they simply feel like it. I understand that it's the first job for many of them but it's a workplace. Be professional... - I wonder who thought it was a great idea to make it mandatory to disturb me when I'm sick with a fever and trying to sleep, just to confirm that I am actually still sick, even though I called literally yesterday and said I was sick, on what planet is that considerate? - Two very experienced team leads in the dev team got forced out of the company because the management decided that it was a good idea to give them the option to either get demoted or leave. - Too many people are allowed to just pretend to work. Barely anybody would notice if they left.

Pros

The open-source product is great. Good work-life balance. Pension is good (full time only). Hybrid work policy (work from anywhere is not accurate. There was pressure to come back to the office after Covid).

Cons

Umbraco is the textbook definition of an old boy's club. They seem to think company culture and Fredag bars make up for low pay. The page "How to Build a Strong Company Culture" on their site says the quiet part out loud (see under #salary). They don't write competitive salary on their job ads for a reason. It is hard to feel valued here. They talk a lot about hiring people but don't have a strategy to retain them. Most of the benefits they list are what Danish law gives you (ex. vacation, sick leave, parent leave). No bonuses, no raise for inflation (!) You have to pay into equity. They want you to invest in them, but in my experience they are not investing in you. Their value of "transparency" works in the community, but is a joke internally. No clear guidelines for advancement. DEI is almost non existent. The people who care are expected to do it themselves. I believe the gender pay gap is alive and well here.

Pros

If you want to know what it is like to work with software as a service, a huge online community and amazing colleagues this it the place you want to go. Umbraco has a startup'y feel to it, while growing rapidly, which means you get to learn both what it means to be in a company driven by people with a entrepreneurial mindset and how to work with scaling an international growth business.

Cons

If you are used to having specialists available on hand for solving all kinds of tasks, then you will find that Umbraco is not at that point yet. Everyone is expected to come up with solutions or suggestions for solutions, rather than just pointing out problems and having someone else fix them.
