Pros

The mission (digital twins to reduce clinical trial sizes) is a worthy one.

Cons

I was shocked to see so many unrealistically positive reviews here. Most of them are from 2022 and older if you look closely. I never imagined that a company filled with so many academics could be such a disaster to work at. They do a good job of hiring the right people.... and then fire them left and right at the whims of their temperamental CEO, Charles Fisher. During my time here they fired an esteemed research leader, who was well loved by their team, with no explanation. Their firing was leaked during an onsite then awkwardly "formally" announced on the last day of the onsite. Seemed like an intimidation tactic to me. Charles and his leadership team also made a point to hire academics and engineers remotely during the pandemic, then threatened to fire them once they decided they want everyone back in an office. Almost all of their top employees across all orgs have been fired for not relocating, when they never required it during their interview processes. They've fired researchers, data scientists, and engineers. They've fired our our only effective recruiter. They've fired their longest-serving people team member for relocating. They've fired multiple PHD-level scientists for not relocating after offering them remote jobs. After all this... Charles whines about needing to be in "war mode", and wears goofy camo outfits to the office to really hone in on the message. News flash - war mode can't happen when you're firing people faster than you can hire them.

Pros

I love working here because of: - The product. We're tackling a huge, important problem (making clinical trials faster and cheaper), and we're building solutions that are both technically robust and a good market fit. - A company culture that is well-suited for long-term growth. We move quickly, but we hold ourselves to a high standard: projects are thoughtfully scoped out, we only ship solutions we're proud of, and we keep a lid on tech debt. - The people. I have worked at other companies that had superstar employees. But this is the only place I've worked where EVERY employee is a superstar. I always trust that my coworkers will complete their work to a high standard. And that means that when I disagree with my coworkers, I can speak candidly because they know it comes from a place of mutual respect.

Cons

The salaries are not the highest. But the rest of the comp package is really solid (e.g. the healthcare options for dependents are Google-level) and I know my stock will be worth a ton some day.

Pros

The company is well managed with a good approach to decision making and planning/prioritization and collaboration. The employees are smart and easy to work with. This is a great place to apply oneself towards an interesting and impactful problem. Expect to grow a lot in a healthy way while contributing in a meaningful way.

Cons

There are no major cons. However, any startup, including Unlearn, has some risk associated with it.
