Pros

There are some great people trying hard to deliver great products.

Cons

Despite receiving consistent feedback about the negative culture, inefficient planning and processes, poor decision-making, and unrealistic expectations, the leadership team (C-Suite) has not acknowledged that they are the primary cause of these issues. This lack of self-awareness and responsiveness to employee concerns perpetuates a toxic work environment. They often take credit for successes but fail to support their team when issues arise, leaving employees to handle problems on their own.

Pros

None that I can honestly think of...

Cons

Working at Unloan was one of the most disappointing professional experiences I’ve had. The management is self-serving, disconnected, and operates with a clear agenda of favouritism. If you're not part of the inner circle or close to leadership, you're constantly at risk — regardless of your performance. It's not about what you do, it's about who you know. There’s a toxic pattern of placing people on performance improvement plans (PIPs) as a cover to force them out, often without fair warning or support. It creates an environment of fear, where people are walking on eggshells rather than doing their best work. What’s worse — leadership has been actively encouraging people from outside the company, including from other lenders, to post fake positive reviews on Glassdoor in an effort to clean up their public image. That says everything you need to know about their priorities. Transparency is virtually non-existent, and communication from management is either vague or misleading. There is no psychological safety here — just politics, posturing, and poor leadership.

Don’t bother, go elsewhere. Anywhere but here.

Pros

Hybrid workplace, some days you get to work from home.

Cons

So many examples, but let’s start with just three: three mothers who returned from maternity leave and, within just a few weeks, were either put on PIPs or made redundant. That’s three returning mothers in a single month — it feels incredibly targeted. What’s even more disappointing is that this is all coming from a so-called “leader” who recently became a parent himself — you’d expect at least a hint of empathy. Management at Unloan is a toxic echo chamber. Promotions aren’t earned through performance but through favoritism, flattery, and inside jokes. There’s no real support: if you speak up, you’re marked as a problem; if you keep your head down, they assume you’re not contributing — you truly can’t win here. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This company’s days are likely numbered anyway, especially considering they’ve already faced legal action from a former employee over misconduct.
