Friendly Team and Environment: The sense among colleagues at Utilize is very good. Everyone is approachable, helpful, and creates a warm and inclusive work environment that fosters collaboration. Exposure to a Variety of Technologies: You will find yourself surrounded by cutting-edge technologies. This exposure allows employees to learn and grow rapidly, making it an ideal workplace for those eager to stay ahead in their careers. Supportive On-the-Floor Managers: The on-the-floor managers (Service Management) are incredible mentors. If you ever find yourself stuck or in need of guidance, they are readily available to point you in the right direction and support your professional development. Perks and Benefits: Free coffee, tea, and fresh fruits to monthly feed-the-team events. Employee Well-being: Offering free counseling services and comprehensive medical insurance (like Vitality) and gym benefits showcases the company's commitment to the holistic health of its workforce. State-of-the-Art Building: The state-of-the-art building is not only aesthetically pleasing but also designed with employee comfort and productivity in mind.

Lack of Understanding in Personal Situations: In some personal situations, such as funerals, the company's response lacked empathy and was instead met with rigidity in enforcing policies. This caused distress among some team members and left room for improvement in handling such delicate situations with more compassion and flexibility. Lack of Flexibility in Shifts and Long Hours: The fixed shift schedule and long working hours can be challenging for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Senior management may not be fully aware of the day-to-day challenges faced by the team. Limited Availability of Community and Development Days: While the company offers Community Days and Development Days, the frequent restriction of these opportunities due to staff shortages can be frustrating for team members. It's essential to ensure that such initiatives are consistently available to employees as promised, to maintain their motivation and engagement. Limited Career Progression Opportunities: Advancement opportunities within the company are perceived to be limited, with progression often relying more on personal relationships with managers rather than solely on performance. This can lead to talented team members seeking opportunities elsewhere for growth, which may contribute to the reported staff turnover. Challenges with Pay Reviews: Pay reviews appear to be infrequent and poorly executed, leaving some employees without a clear understanding of their compensation growth. Aligning pay increases with inflation rates and aiming higher than market-level salaries could boost employee morale and retention.

We currently have over 54 community days taken by our staff members, including our Managing Director so far this year and more than 429 Development days taken. Every line manager has the autonomy to deal with bereavement requests on a case-by-case bases using our policy for guidance. We were pleased to be accredited as a Real Living Wage employer at the end of last year, joining 13,000 other business to ensure we provide a real wage, for the real cost of living to help support our people to support themselves and their families, we also conducted full company salary reviews in 2022 and 2023. Utilize has always prided itself on its open communication and transparency giving every staff member the chance to put any questions or feedback in to the ‘live company update’ Q&A once a month, as well as full access to our staff committee team. Pros

My team are very friendly and supportive and my line manager takes the time to help me develop professionally. I have made some great friends and everyone is so friendly and wants you to succeed.

Cons

Although the interview process was tough. But after meeting all the people who work here I can honestly say they are a great bunch of people. I’m glad they take the time in interviews as I love the people I’m working with.

Leadership team genuinely listen to all. and encourage success through mutual goals. no micromanagement or pressure to adhere to unnecessary kpi's.

Cons

Business is growing and experiencing the usual pains this brings like systems and processes need updating to fit the way they need to adapt. leadership is overall conscious of this and actually actioning.

Great Team of onsite engineers who I interact with more often than not, (Nilesh Gobi and Andy Maddox for the most part) Great manager, Gary is a top lad. Some good nights outs and events so far,

Cons

relatively minimal training (for my situation) everytime i travel to london/basildon for an event, I have delays getting back out of london/basildon. unique to my situation but a certain feeling of powerlessness in some situations - I'm on site point of contact IT for a head office and unable to buy in cables/headsets etc myself. maybe more politics on the client side

Our onboarding of new staff members ensures that all employees are given training on Cherwell and other systems. Our on-site teams spend two weeks with our Service Desk, getting hands-on experience and learning about our systems and processes. Remember, we all have access to our helpdesk by raising a ticket. The service desk team will always respond to any questions or queries we ask. We also have access to Teams in Teams, where we can raise questions with other employees or departments. State of the art office space at Basildon HQ, Open plan office space, encouraging collaborative working, no 'divide' between departments (no feelings of 'them' and 'us'), including easy access to Senior Leadership Team and Directors who are all very approachable, Weekly lunches, including monthly 'naughty' lunch, the workplace encourages and promotes good wellbeing both mentally and physically, Good quality barista style coffee from machines, Free fruit available all week, Private healthcare, 60/40 working split (3x days in office, 2x days at home) with home-office support fund for desk/chairs etc, Budgets for Department outings (i.e. dinners/spa/Go Karting etc), Ample opportunity to work with either 3x local company-chosen charities or with your own preferred charity, Development days allowing you to self-develop either by training courses or working/shadowing with other departments, Gaming nights, Ample opportunity for career growth, regardless of current job position

I've been here for 15+ years, I wouldn't stick around that long if I didn't like it here!!

Pros

Firstly, I really enjoy the job position I'm doing at Utilize! The company really look after you aswell and offer more benefits than I've ever heard for a local job, more leaning towards a London office structure for benefits. Health insurance, free lunch once a week and a bigger once a month free lunch on top, fantastic modern offices, summer and winter parties, awards, games room etc Batista coffee The CEO and Directors are very approachable personable people who sit in with teams to get to know them and work alongside us. The best part is how welcoming all the other staff are and how easy it is to get along with each other. This makes for a good vibe in the office and remotely. I can see my future at Utilize and never wanting to leave the company, as long as they'll have me!
