Pros

They paid very well in comparison to other companies. They train well and have a nice physical working environment

Cons

My honest thought having left the business some time ago is that leaving this company is like escaping an abusive relationship. Throughout my time at Vanarama I was told the work I did was not good enough. I was made to feel like I should consider myself lucky to be part of this company and that there are no better jobs out there and I don’t know how good I’ve got it. Now having left the business I can honestly say this was just propaganda to keep you from leaving. The management style was appalling, the constant negative communication from the top was anxiety inducing. If you need a job crack on and work there, but if you value your mental health and want to feel like a valued employee then look elsewhere

Pros

Not many- you do get to leave 30 minutes early on a Friday

Cons

A company that promotes people on who they know/ friends rather than skill set and having the ability and qualifications to do the job. Management walk around doing nothing and are not qualified to be in senior positions. New hierarchy of management bought in who are useless and quick to blame everyone but themselves for their own silly decisions. Staff have been sighed off sick caused by management bullying & name calling. I have been in meetings when management discuss plans on how to carry out verbal assaults on staff- typically 4 managers will go into a meeting with one staff member (someone they want to get rid off) and bombard them with false acquisitions. It is very difficult to defend yourself when you have 4 dogs attacking you! They then have a good laugh once the meeting is over while staff are having mental breakdowns! Processes and systems are outdated and no investment from management to make improvements. Staff are expected to come in early on Fridays to sit through talks about company values, yet management will stroll in at 9am! Do not be fooled into thinking this is a fun vibrant company- most staff are depressed and over worked!

Pros

Can be good money if you manage to hit target

Cons

Management is basically the current Tory party. awful culture, awful work life balance, awful hours, awful atmosphere, most of the sales team are depressed and struggling and no one cares, targets are almost impossible, no empathy, no morals from senior management

It's always so disappointing to see one of our people leave us feeling like this, and completely contrary to not only what we're trying to achieve but also what's reflected in our engagement scores across the business. The hours we operate in certain areas, has to reflect that of our changing customer needs and in tough times, these are the things that put us ahead of the competition. We're doing some great work with our leaders to ensure two-way dialogue and ideas are listened to and acted upon when it's the right thing to do. Personally I feel that the culture is head and shoulders above other organisations I have experienced but I also understand that this will feel different for others. Wishing you all the best for the future and if you ever you want to share experiences that you think we could learn from I'd love to hear from you. Kind regards Dani (Head of People)
