-Since it is hourly position, during winter you are not guaranteed to work 40hrs per week.(but in May to around November the company has a lot of work so you will probably work overtime, which will increase your earnings that might offset the low hours worked during winter. So plan ahead)
-During the months of May to October you will spend 80% of your time in the field. Also, in most of the trips you will be working on avg 10 hrs/day and in some case you will be asked to work in weekend or work for 2 weeks straight with overtime of course.
-If you are interested in doing engineering duties I do not think this is a good fit specially if you are aiming for structural engineering career. As most of the tasks can be done by technicians.
-In order to move to a design engineer you will have to spend at least three years in the field.
-Very niche industry.
