Pros

Majority of staff are talented and motivated. Great terms and conditions on paper Guy at the very top is a great leader.

Cons

An IT ‘function’ that has been under transformation for the last 3-4 years led by people who don’t seem to have a clue about IT. There has been a monumental waste of the company’s money and everyone’s time. A department that is a real risk to the company’s sustainability. Needs some real scrutiny.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, but we really appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention so we can continue to improve going forward. We agree that we have a great group of talented and motivated employees that work hard and are brilliant at what they do. We also agree that there has been a transition within the IT team which has led to some of your points above, however we are working hard to ensure we continue to address these issues moving forward. Feedback will help us to continually improve our services and it’s much appreciated. Wishing you all the best for the future.

Pros

Pay is reasonable. Colleagues are friendly.

Cons

To sum up the leadership. The CIO saw a bad review of her on here and held a meeting with the dept and threw a hissy fit. Telling people she hadn’t got rid of good hard working experienced and loyal people to bring in her mates. Well unfortunately for her everyone knows the truth and although her friends may be very qualified, doesn’t make the claim wrong. Also telling people about what someone who left has said is a bit pointless, try fixing the perception rather than claiming its wrong! Zero people management. Work is delivered via slack messages, with an immediate response expected. There is a jira boards that are ignores by management. Planning, plain and simple doesn’t exist. Massive upgrades and changes to the business are thrown in with 2/3 weeks notice. No training or testing time given. Madness on every level Communication so bad they remove people from the business and don't tell their colleagues. To the extend we only find out people have left months later if not in your team! Management don’t attend their own meetings, have no respect for the people under pressure. Just pile more on. Personal development is a dirty word (or two). People are leaving because they feel they have regressed since joining. Something I agree with. HR don’t care about people outside their own dept. They talk, provide enough leaflets to give Green peace a hernia, but there are never actions to help people, they just like to remove people who speak up, and at a time when HR are actively changing contracts to save money, they show zero remorse for effecting people’s mental health COVID made us home worker and we couldn’t even borrow a chair, so a year later my back is in pieces. But eventually, I was offered a keyboard to help.. great thanks. No training Complete reluctance to provide product training. If you don’t include manual handling and fire extinguisher online training, obviously useful to home IT staff. Then management wonder why there is a skill shortage, and still don’t act upon it despite being badgered on a constant basis.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear that your experience hasn’t been positive whilst you’ve been working at Vaultex. The IT function are going through a process of change at the moment and want to get this right for our employees. We pride ourselves on our Senior Management team and are confident that they are taking the business in the right direction to improve our business. We have an active recruitment campaign to recruit new talent to help with these exciting projects that we have planned over the next few years. We are sorry that you didn’t feel supported during work and didn’t feel that you were given the opportunity to develop your skills. This is something that you would have an opportunity to discuss during your reviews with your line manager. We have lots of resources to help with the learning and development of our employees. Equally our HR team work hard to support all of our colleagues and ensure we have the right people in the right teams. Which is why you have a dedicated HR Business partner that is available to you to discuss any concerns you have. In addition we have worked hard during the last 12 months of COVID to ensure our employees are still communicated to whilst homeworking and still run all of usual campaigns, including a Virtual Hero Award Ceremony, to recognise our peoples efforts. In addition we have managed to run our business without furloughing any of our employees and in some cases reducing working hours without our employees losing any pay. Unfortunately we won’t be able to address every point on here, but we hope the points highlighted above can satisfy the majority of your concerns. Of course we find it disheartening that you view Vaultex in such a negative way, however appreciate your thoughts and comments and wish you all the best for your future endeavours.

Pros

This is based on working in the Birchwood administrative office near Warrington. If you value good ethics, fair treatment of employees, and competent senior management, then you do not want a job at Vaultex. Vaultex is one of those companies that looks great at first but after a short while you start to see the cracks. The staff themselves are amazing. Very talented and mostly happy to help each other (when they're not being worked into the ground). They've been completely demoralised by management. Staff are not listened to. Their advice and warnings are ignored, leading management to make rash and ill-conceived decisions. Usually if a project works, it's because the staff have put in the extra effort to make it work, DESPITE the way that management have hamstrung them. Most of the senior management care little for the staff around them. It's very clear that people here are a resource to be used and cast aside if necessary. There seems to be various power struggles going on. Doesn't matter what happens to staff in these struggles. No effort is made to hang on to expertise. Valued staff are allowed to leave without any effort to retain them. Or worse, in some cases, prominent and cohesive people are just fired because they aren't willing to show the same lack of ethics that the senior management wield. Over the last few years, the company has lost some of its most talented devs, analysts and middle managers. The result is entire departments who have extensive knowledge gaps on in house products and systems. This was so bad at one point that an entire dev team was charged with maintaining systems that they'd never used before. The staff were mostly new on that team and did an amazing job of pulling together. But they shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place as stress levels were through the roof. Recently a new CIO was hired. Their first action was to fire several key people and then to bring in their own people to replace them. The CEO is aware of this, they just don't seem to care. The resultant exodus has left departments understaffed and demoralised with huge gaps in knowledge and experience. If you're applying for a job at Vaultex, the chances are that you're being brought in to try and mitigate some of this loss. Bear in mind that as a lot of the systems used are very niche and often developed in house (by developers who have since left), your learning curve is going to be roughly akin to running in to a brick wall. One thing that Vaultex does well is the number of awareness days/weeks. Such as mental health awareness. However, most of it is completely undone by the company never following through on it's own advice. It's like the old joke: Company : We'd like to promote good mental health in the workplace. Employees : How about hiring more people so we feel less pressured? Increase our pay so we can keep up with the spiralling cost of living so we're not completely stressed out? Company : LOL No! Try yoga or something! You will often be expected to work weekends, but will only be offered time off in lieu (at a 1 to 1 ratio) rather than get any overtime. Oh, and if you mess up you will be nailed to the wall for your mistake. Blame culture is rife. Pros ---- Good pension Bonus up to 10%. Technically it's up to 20% but this is never awarded. Occasional rewards (Ice cream day, pizza day, curry day) Some great camaraderie between staff Central and accessible location 35hr working week

Cons

Terrible staff morale. High staff attrition rate (I was at the company only 3 years and was considered a long termer) Two faced and ruthless senior management that see staff as a resource to be exploited. You will be out and out lied to. Blame culture. Nepotism is prevelant. Out of date equipment and reluctance to spend (both personal kit and server level) Profitability over people. Your salary is unlikely to ever change. No room for progression. Attempting to dominate a dying industry with no apparent plans to diversify.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear that your experience hasn’t been positive whilst you were working at Vaultex. Mental Health and Diversity - Our employees mental health is very important to us at Vaultex, and it’s so important to us that we have a culture where people can talk freely about their mental health. In order to achieve this all managers now attend training in how to support people with mental health issues. We also signed the Time to Change pledge in 2017, ensuring we prioritised the mental wellbeing of our people and work collectively to break the stigma attached to mental health. This has been achieved by building a Speak Up community where our people share their experiences, assigning mental health first aiders across the business and providing support tools to all employees. We also have mental health first aiders and offer access to free support through our 24/7 counselling services. In recent years Vaultex has dedicated a lot of time at Executive and Board level to discuss strategy that encompasses all areas of diversity. We recently signed up to the Valuable 500 (becoming one of the first 500 companies to put disability discrimination on the board agenda) and the Race at Work charter, underlining our commitment to racial equality. Gender equality is also a topic we have focused on, partnering with Work 180: a company that accredits employers with a genuine commitment to supporting women at work. We won’t stop here either. Encouraging and embracing diversity has always been important to us, and we are continually searching for ways that drive our entire diversity agenda in line with our vision and values. We are sorry that you didn’t feel supported during work and didn’t feel that you were given the opportunity to develop your skills.
