Unprofessional and Problematic - Company worked for aka Emerald City Decorations/Corey M Dean LLC
Pros
Grateful for the time I shared with coworkers and learning/getting into the print production field. Good people work there and will treat you with kindness. Manager who works with production daily cares about their employees.
Cons
I worked as a digital print specialist in their stickers area for about 18 months. Company goes under Emerald City Decorations/Velociterra/Corey M. Dean LLC Felt like overall the production team in all of their depts were very underpaid compared to what other companys with the same skillsets offer. They’d rather offer excessive company lunches to distract from the fact that this company doesn’t truly feel like they care about their employees. They make you feel expendable. They’d give workers 1 strike out of their 3 strike policy and then fire people soon after, leaving production severely understaffed, and yet are wanting to urgently hire. I was one of those people. Never given any prior notice, and was let go about an hour before the end of my shift. “So bad news, unfortunately this is your last day”, leaving me really shocked. To make it even more cruel, this was a couple weeks before Christmas. And yet, again, they were urgently hiring. Many people have been fired or quit in the short span of time I was there. CEO has made it uncomfortable to work there and has definitely affected the workplace environment. There’s been a number of complaints about them, which to me is a big red flag. They openly talk about their own employees, is comfortable making belittling comments towards them, and has disclosed personal information about their own employees. Something that I thought has always been inappropriate was the fact that the CEO would bring their young kid, and sometimes his friend, to the production floor, “helping” but really just working for most of the day. Made for an uncomfortable situation when we as employees have to sometimes tell their kid what to do, and basically babysit them. I have never really felt acknowledged, seen, heard, or felt respected from upper management and the CEO. There seems to be an underlying sexism within the work culture and when you effectively lose all of the female employees in one dept, thats another huge red flag. Guidance and managing is also something they lack. This isn’t a company to stay long term. Honestly glad I was let go, gave me a chance to currently work at a place where I feel valued and paid well for the amount of effort I put in.
