Looks good, sounds good, and then management gets involved

Pros

The only reason to work at Ventech is if you will be satisfied with working on unrealistic goals set by management. The only positive take away is that I was fortunate to create good workplace friendships. There is a 401k match that is immediately vested. I learned how you should never treat employees, that it is important to let your employees know they are appreciated when they do good work to pat them on the back, to be there for them when they need help, and most importantly, always remember that they have a life outside of work, which takes precedence over everything else.

Cons

1. Not having a personal or family relationship with the owner. He chooses people who agree with him and not based on their qualifications. If they are a cultural fit, he promotes them, if not, he fires them. By his own admission, if you have all the qualifications for the job but are not a cultural fit, you will not be hired. 2. Employees are not valued as other reviews state. While a culturally diverse workplace is great, you have to be of a certain culture to be recognized, and even then the still treat you like garbage they can toss at any time. 3. In the time I worked at Ventech I watched a single project turn over the ENTIRE team multiple times. How long did I work there? A little over a year. 4. The HR team will walk employees out with no notice. While I understand this is at will employment, the right thing to do is give an employee the courtesy of two weeks. Many employees came in to work accepting that it may in fact be their last day so they wouldn't be so shocked if it actually was. 5. The management frustrated a number of people who simply walked out with no notice. 6. The company (usually management) enjoys letting the employees know how well they are doing with acquisitions but never mentions on time delivery and a satisfied customer. 7. There is constant investment in making the office look fresh and exciting, but this will come at the cost of employee comfort. 8. The managers have never had formal managerial training and tend to micromanage all work demanding that you provide all items being worked on for entire week broken down by what you are doing every day and how much time will be spent on each item. 9. Ventech likes to hire H1Bs that can be called on at all hours of the day and night to keep working towards whatever deadline management has told the customer. 10. The benefits are ok, but the health insurance options will have you paying a lot for a low deductible plan or a little less for a high deductible plan(so either way you look at it your shelling out a lot of money). The company is over 500 employees and doesn't cover enough of health insurance cost. 11. No open door policy with security of no retaliation. If you make a complaint to HR, you can expect that management will be made aware and it will likely lead to termination. 12. The recruiters are good at luring in candidates with promises of random bonuses or raises to an entire team and showing off the office space as being cool and trendy. 13. Employees are often referred to as bodies and not people. That is simply unacceptable. 14. Work life balance was terrible. It got so bad that my family started to worry about me and they felt I was upset and very irritable when I came home every day. 15. Turnover is very high as alluded to in previous points. 16. Management will always do what it wants without considering feedback from employees who are subject matter experts. This devalues the SME which leads to a decrease in information sharing causing the project, and ultimately, the customer to suffer.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?!

Pros

Friendships with coworkers; flexibility to work from home

Cons

- The environment is toxic. Everyone is expected to work 24/7 without question for the promise of "becoming a millionaire" when the company is sold. However, growth has stopped because upper management has pushed out or fired the employees who were committed to the success of the company as a whole. Executive leadership has been replaced with individuals who care for nothing except power. Many personal friends have been hired and then unnecessary positions are created, or qualified employees are replaced by these personal friends. Decisions to fire or replace people are largely made without knowledge of their job or previous contributions to the company. - People who are successfully promoted use the following formula: Propose to change absolutely everything + use the latest technology buzzwords (think innovation and blockchain), then subtract any knowledge of existing processes and/or results. - Jobs are being outsourced. Employees unknowingly train their replacements.

Pros

Worked with a lot of great people and built long-lasting relationships with them. Flexible as it relates to working from home, taking care of personal appointments, etc. Snacks and fruit are offered. Offices are very nice.

Cons

Executive leadership preaches servant leadership, yet the company runs on the backs of a few people who sacrifice their health and social lives to get the job done - management still asks for more while giving little to none. The company culture is one of chaos, frustration and panic, as planning, processes, procedures and communication are non-existent. Those who leave or are terminated are branded cultural misfits. Reward is reserved for the top and/or those who excel at taking credit for the 80-90 hour weeks of others. Pushback/suggestions from the most knowledgeable folks is disregarded and unwelcome. Innovation is lacking.
