Company Review:
I would strongly advise staying away from this company. Many current employees are actively searching for new jobs, and there are countless reasons why this is not a good place to work. Here are the most glaring issues:
1. Terrible Salary: They lure you in with promises of salary increases after meeting certain goals or timeframes, but once you’re there, those promises vanish. If you take on a new role, your responsibilities increase, but your salary stays the same.
2. Unfair Grading System: Employees are required to submit monthly reports, which are graded. These grades are made public within the company. For those working in China, your salary depends on your grade—100% for an “A” grade, and lower grades result in salary deductions. Thankfully, this system doesn’t affect employees in Canada (yet).
3. Mandatory App: You must clock in and out using an app downloaded onto your personal phone, which the company does not pay for. The app requires constant access to your location and sends reminders to keep notifications on, making it intrusive.
4. Confusing Leadership: There are three owners/managers, and they frequently give conflicting instructions. This creates confusion and frustration as you are caught in the middle of opposing directives.
5. No Work-Life Balance: Communication with the China team means your phone goes off during the night. If you try to disconnect by turning off notifications, the app keeps reminding you to turn them back on.
6. Toxic Management: Managers treat employees rudely, yell, and publicly shame staff in the company chat when mistakes are made.
7. Long Hours: The schedule runs from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with only a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Most companies have a 9-to-5 schedule, but this one makes you work longer hours for no extra pay.
8. No Year-End Time Off: Unlike most companies that offer a break during the last one or two weeks of the year, this company gives no time off at all during that period.
In summary, this company offers a toxic work environment, poor pay, and zero respect for employees’ time or well-being. If you value your mental health and professional growth, it’s best to steer clear of this place.
