Pros

As a corporate funeral chain, its many locations do a good job at providing continuing education opportunities for its employees. In addition, an employee could, theoretically, advance into the corporate management team or become a full or partial owner of one of the many homes in their region.

Cons

They are large enough that there's a good chance, in the upper-Midwest, that you are applying to one of their firms. The bad news is that they are large enough to have created their own bubble. This means poor base pay and hard to reach, commission based bonuses (if you qualify for them at all) that make for stagnant wages and unpredictable paychecks. Not surprisingly, they also seem to have a hard time filling positions which translates into heavy workloads (even for funeral service standards).

Pros

It was a job and pay

Cons

Ridiculous out of reach sales quotas and bonus opportunity. Collect the money, as much money as you can get the family to buy more and spend more. They choose their managers by butt kissing not by qualifications. Very poor follow through and communication. Announce new rules and policies, no follow through...so announce new rules and polices, no follow through, announce new rules and policies. Little to no accountability for incompetent managers. Jason Burlage is over his head....So was Tom Vertin though. If you get a job there have an exit plan firmly in place.
