Pros

The main reason to work for this company is the benefits -- VGV offers remote flexibility and generous time off. It's also global, so you get to work with global brands and people. Exposure to different cultures is a big pro if you're interested in learning about other walks of life and working styles. The people are the company's greatest assets -- individual contributors go above and beyond to move the needle forward and grow the company.

Cons

There are a lot of downsides to working at this company and they far outweigh the good. Company management is ego-dominant and out of touch with day-to-day activity and contributions. The company has hitched its wagon to Flutter's exponential growth as an early user and has grown faster and earlier than ready. Management is quick to cast blame to individual contributors with little to no accountability placed on leadership. There has been no priority placed on process building, improvement, and growth. If you're not reading minds or friends with the executive team, expect management to be talking about you behind closed doors. Take a job at this company if you're comfortable sacrificing your mental health for a stepping stone in the technology industry. The culture that's promoted on socials is not what it seems and has been the reason for a lot of turnover.

They Were Very Good, But Now?

Pros

Remote, with very flexible work schedules. Solid pay and usually interesting projects. The coworkers are generally great and very technically minded, and excited to share their knowledge. Getting bigger and making a larger impact in the consulting space.

Cons

Lack of clear career trajectories leading to turnover and developer discomfort. Executives much more interested in outside hires from competing consulting firms than internal promotion. Indecisive leadership leads to wasted time, money, and developer effort. A good portion of the friendly, popular employees were pushed out for vague reasons and made to seem like they voluntarily departed.

We're glad to hear you had a positive experience with your colleagues and the work you did for VGV! We are truly proud of the talented and kind people who make VGV what it is. We also appreciate your candid feedback on areas where you believe we can do better. We are actively working on laying out a clearer career ladder because we know it’s important to our employees. As a consultancy, employees have the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse work which will lead to faster learning and advancement. We want to make sure that the way we evaluate that learning is clear and tangible. We also know that VGV has been growing quickly, both in headcount and new service offerings, and that not everyone has felt aligned on our direction. We will continue to work on reinforcing VGV’s larger visions and goals and transparently communicate how we are performing against those goals. We value feedback like yours, and we’re continually striving to improve. Thank you for sharing your perspective — it helps us grow.
