      World-class mentors, powerful hardware, opportunities to experience/transition to engineering positions, perfect environment for growth.

      Cons

      As sensed above, hardware while powerful is usually not located (enough) towards research, compensation is nice but also slightly lower than the field -- although I do understand that this department doesn't make any money.
