Pros

Excessive wages paid for the responsibility you hold as compared to industry outside the rail world and the pension is quite good also.

Cons

Bullying behaviours are exhibited all over the business, with only those protected by the union safe in many senses. Not a place I would recommend to any prospective employee. They operate a process where you can supposedly challenge anything - but if you do and you don't follow the party line expect the worst.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review and we're sorry you haven't had a positive experience with us. Virgin Trains is committed to being a great place to work, where we celebrate diversity - including diversity of views and perspectives. We're a passionate bunch, and we love a good debate. We certainly don't all have to agree with one another. Like any responsible business, any allegations of bullying are taken very seriously and swiftly handled. And, as an Investor In People with our 'Gold' status renewed in 2017, we're committed to maintaining a safe, secure, respectful and fun working environment. We wish you all the best in your future career.

Pros

Went through a recruitment agency said work could last less time but finished after 3 months. I could come in do my job with ease

Cons

Temporary staff isolated. Main staff didn't get involved with us until towards month 3 to say we are not hitting targets. I was placed in a pod away from my team with a manager asking why I didn't complete much on one system one day. Little did I know that this was a warning before deciding to get rid of me. Rude behaviour and unprofessional making me feel uncomfortable by being patronising about this. Then only introducing themselves after 3 months which was strange

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Very sorry to hear that you're not happy. Employee engagement is very important to us so I would strongly recommend that you talk to someone about this and we can see what can be done. In the first instance, your Manager should be able to help. If you would prefer to speak to someone else, especially about contracts, then your HR business partner or Regional Talent Partner will be able to help. If you are based in the North West this is Emily Phillips or Karen Broad. I hope any issues can be resolved and we can turn around your experience. All the best.
