Pros

There are certainly better sub-sections of the charity to work under, some managers are super lovely and friendly, especially upper female management tend to be very nice and encouraging. Michael the CEO has a good vision for the charity and is very approachable for staff, which is needed.

Cons

Overall VN is ill equipped for some of the work they are being contracted to do, very poor training and safeguarding practices, some of the lower managers are completely in over their heads and provide really poor support and guidance. Most concerningly they are not prioritising the safeguarding of frontline staff who are out meeting high risk community members, especially staff that are women. As well as this, VN is overwhelmingly white and have a really poor minority representation, and the office didn’t seem welcoming for POC due to this. Get some more diverse staff in and things might start to improve.
