Terrible Company

Pros

Competitive Salary is all I can think of. Even benefits for such a large company are pretty mediocre (your 401k match won't come for the 1st year!)

Cons

Walmart Connect will tell you that the return to office mandate was from Walmart Corporate, which is true...but they have to take the prize for one of the most, if not THE most poorly executed change management any of us will ever see. There is no formal policy, no one who will step up and clearly explain a formal policy, a manager-by-manager interpretation which leads to a lot of frustration across the organization. There are people losing their jobs over a "policy" not in writing, not formalized, just basically rumored at this point. The policy has unfairly impacted working mothers, people with disabilities, and minorities. WMC will tell you they care, but they literally could not care less. Have a question for HR? Don't waste your breath, it's unlikely they'll even have the decency to answer a simple question, let alone a more serious inquire. The company is terrible, and you could find a salary just as good or better elsewhere.

Shady Moves

Pros

Competitive pay, decent benefits. Not good enough for RTO without food or commute covered.

Cons

Signed offer a few weeks ago for hybrid role. Told my old job, and stopped the final rounds I was in elsewhere….just for them to turn around a couple weeks later and say they’re shifting back to an “in-person” culture. Sorry is 2-3x a week not in person enough? Takes double the time to be as productive w the distractions in office. Would be nice to have at least a couple days to focus quietly on completing my actual work. But instead I’ll be using that time to wake up early and commute, super productive. Not to mention this tactic is SO shady of them. Would never have applied if I’d known upfront I would have to go in more than 2x per week. But of course they knew that…

Toxic culture, lots of politics, lots of bureaucracy

Pros

Hyper growth in retail media

Cons

Stop hiring clueless, toxic leaders. Yes-man culture, lots of politics. Lots of bureaucracy, managing up and over engineering of process killed great culture, and trust. Now“watch your back” type of culture. Great leaders who built the product left, or driven out by toxic, political folks.
