Pros
I worked at Webspire for 2 years and 5 months. That was, until now, the longest employment I had. - During my employment I learned quite a lot of things. From Social Media, to SEO, PPC & Website development. This is one of the pros, that I had the chance to learn a lot of subdomains which came in hand and qualified me for more than just one position/job. - Another pro was that the management always gave chances to people who were at the start of their career (freshmen, students, people who never worked in digital marketing before). This is not a lot of managers do, as you know, they usually ask for 500 years of experience. But here, I really appreciated that the manager trusted people and hired newbies. - The clients portfolio was really diverse. Some were sweet, some were more serious, but nonetheless, the work was diverse and we got to learn a lot from Horeca, office supplies, IT, interior design, real estate and so on. - A lot of times, we had a really good time laughing in the office. This is something, I'd say, mandatory if you want to apply for a job here. You should know that sometimes there's jokes, and laughter and fun and you should have a sense of humor. - I was given the chance to conduct interviews to occupy the vacant posts and that was a really helpful experience, as it helped me read people better and also do better on interviews myself. - Often the manager shared with us invitations to events (theaters, art galleries, parties) and encouraged us to participate to workshops, webinars, courses. - The manager encouraged us all the time to be more curious, to learn more, to read more and be open and aware of the things which surrounded us. - Whenever I had an appointment, a personal event, or needed time off to clear my head, the manager showed understanding and was very empathic. Most important, she was kind just when I needed her to be. - We received bonuses / gifts on Christmas, we always had a Secret Santa, we always bought/received presents when it was our birthdays, we organised small parties to celebrate victories (new clients, big projects which ended well). - I never had to ask for a raise, it came natural, based on my performance and the duration of my employment.
Cons
Just like any other job, there were ups and downs. Here are my downs on working at Webspire: - Sometimes I felt like my ideas were not really appreciated. Even the ones we ended up implementing them. - Sometimes I got frustrated due to the fact that I ended up doing more than just accounting (copywriting, content writing, social media, sometimes implementing Facebook campaigns), but felt like all this amount of work was not fully appreciated. - Hiring entry-level employers came with disadvantages sometimes. When the volume of work was so high, due to the fact that they did not know exactly what to do and I had 0 time to explain the task, I could not delegate and was stuck with doing all the work myself. - There were 2 periods of time when we were understaffed so those times were quite hard on me. It was one just after the pandemics started and then another one after a year. - Because the volume of work I had was pretty high, I had my screw ups. Some of the screw ups were on me and only me, others were because the volume was so high that I could not take care of everything. - The volume of work was so high sometimes that I had to stay overtime on several occasions, more than I would have wanted to.
Pros
- interesting clients and projects - good learning environment - nice colleagues - good salary
Cons
- the manager is really toxic and downgrades employees constantly. - me and other colleagues were bullied often, even resulted in crying at the office. - we were not respected as a person. - we were constantly told we were stupid (and much more), or our work was stupid. The feedback was subjective any only viewed through her lens. - there was a constant pressure and tensions when she was at the office. - one of us was humiliated constantly - the manager would wipe out the breadcrumbs between the keyboard on my colleagues hand. She had so much work to do that she couldn't afford to eat in the kitchen. - some employees that are more sensitive could not take it and left after 2-3 months.
