Pros

Unlimited overtime available, will hire any and all

Cons

- PCT's are staffed 1:24 patients, and paid 15 dollars an hour- Hospital has a total census of 40-100 patients, yet staff its own: COO, CNO, CEO, CFO, and CHRO for both the hospital and market made of two hospitals. pay is 6 figures- Floors are run with absolute bare minimum staff. No system for replacing employee's that call in sick (just work harder)- Staffing ratios are not in line with illinois recommendations, and are often times unsafe for acuity- No innovation in nursing, no education offered, no clinical ladder, and no opportunity for professional advancement

Pros

Heroic and humble nurses. However, PCTs are the backbone and lifeblood of this facility.

Cons

!Understaffed! (they utilize a ratio of 1nurse:6patients and 1pct:14patients), I once had 23 patients. The fifth floor hired several people last year, just to close the unit and lay them off. The unit then opened and closed several more times, and now it has no staff. And at the end of 2019, over half of the respiratory department was fired. !Low pay! They paid a female colleague more qualified than I $2 less than me, and an inexperienced colleague $3 more than me. Pay is determined by Unit Manager and appears nepotistic. !Doctors! The animosity between the nurses/families and the doctors is shocking. I have witnessed blatant racism from Lead Physician Saba Khan and Head Psychiatrist Ofelia Ionescu. I've seen patients wait in rooms for hours before getting an initial admission assessment. !Dietary! Likes/dislikes are ignored, there is a singular option at mealtimes. There are no snacks to give patients whose last meal is served at 5pm. Dietary restrictions are either ignored or miscommunicated to kitchen. !Security! I've been attacked twice. I've had one patient legitimately rob his roommate and escape the hospital. !Nursing Management! I cannot express the utter disappointment, negligence, and self-centeredness I've witnessed in the nursing leadership here. It is a clique of which the members have decades of covering each other's tracks. !Infection Control! Since admission assessments are rare, I've been exposed to C-Diff, Tuberculosis (many times), bedbugs, lice, and more. Furthermore, nobody tells you if you came into contact. Each time I would find out days later from overhearing the nurses discussing it amongst themselves. !EMERGENCY ROOM!I've seen some questionable things, and some downright human rights violations. This ER needs to be shut down. It cannot service the area with its resources, period. There is much more but I hope you've made your decision by now.
