      Pros

      It is a 'cool' place to work. The lobby is wonderful. The staff is an interesting, engaged, artistic group of people. Could be a great job for someone who is making some money somewhere else or a student.

      Cons

      Low pay-- not even close to enough to live off of in NYC. Most workers are temps and will remain so for years. Little opportunity for advancement. No benefits, PTO, etc for temps treated like permanent staff.

      Pros

      Good benefits for full time employees, interesting things happening sometimes, decent hours of operation, decent wages but nothing amazing

      Cons

      Incredible lack of communication overall... it's often shocking, terrible uniforms for visitor services staff, really bad policies that make no sense, the managers yell at employees, there is a lack of written policies on important things (i.e. how to call out sick and how often, or the policy on lateness), lack of follow through with many things

      Great colleagues, surrounded by artwork all the time, first dibs on new exhibits, fairly flexible work schedule (good for a student/freelancer)

      Cons

      Terrible upper management in all FOH departments, high turnover rate = constant revolving door of FOH staff, FOH creates value for the museum but is constantly micromanaged and underpaid, VERY FEW opportunities for career growth
