Poor Senior Management

Pros

Car Park. Free fruit and snacks.

Cons

Here are just a few. Xigen has a small agency mentally, who doesn't allow staff to express their talents and skills - without being micromanaged within an inch of their lives. Their mantra is "This is not how we do things here." Short reactive task-based work - which feels like working on a production line.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, we’re sorry to hear that this was your experience of working at Xigen. We’re always looking for ways to improve and actively ask our staff to provide anonymous feedback on both Management and our processes through 360 feedback forms, which we will continue to encourage and take action on. As a smaller agency we do ask that our team are flexible in the work they are assigned; but are continuously looking for ways to bring on exciting new projects that play to our teams’ talents. We are working hard on this and our new sales and marketing team have already secured some really exciting new projects that we know the team are going to love working on. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us, we value all feedback and will take your comments on board to help us work towards becoming an even better company to be a part of!

Pros

Talented Design and Technical Teams

Cons

Very poor team at Director level, who are focussed on churning out piecemeal work. Not true Project Management and very removed from the clients - effectively a commoditised operation where the staff are micro-managed and have little or no autonomy or opportunity to push creative boundaries.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on working here at Xigen, we’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t have a more positive experience. We don’t understand the ‘removed from clients’ comment given that the entire senior management team are in touch with our clients on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. As a business we’re focussed on bringing fantastic new projects that will allow our teams to push their creative boundaries, which can be seen by the introduction of our new sales and marketing team who are already doing a great job at this during a tough period. There will always be an element of BAU work as our client retention rate (currently 82%) means that we form long term relationships with our clients. We actively try not to micro-manage our staff and are disappointed to hear that you feel this way, we will therefore strive to continue to allow our staff to work in ways that allow them freedom to work in the ways that they enjoy. Thanks again for sharing your feedback with us, we will ensure that we take your comments on board.

A learning experience

Pros

1) Very friendly people. 2) Transparent about the companies finances. 3) Opportunities to learn new technologies. 4) Flexible working hours. 5) Bonus' paid when the company exceeds targets (Rare but it does happen) 6) No work over Christmas!

Cons

1) Pay reviews don't occur often, if at all. 2) Work can be very frantic sometimes. This is the nature of agency work, but it does feel like there's very little structure in place to deal with work that's just "Thrown" at you. This can be especially frustrating when you have two project managers fighting over your time for two different projects. 3) If you're remote you wont enjoy some of the benefits afforded to office staff. (Cakes/Fruit/etc) This is something that can be solved like other companies who have remote staff do with the occasional pizza day etc. 4) One particular member of management can come across quite rude and dismissive of opinions and suggestions offered. I don't think they intend to be like this, they're not a nasty person, but they need to work on it. 5) No benefits for long-serving members of staff. I wouldn't have benefited from this even if it was a thing, but I think rewarding loyalty is such an easy thing to do that a lot of companies miss. 6) Minimum pension contribution.
