It’s fun to stay at the YMCA if you like unhealthy working environments
Pros
Free digital card to access gym sent to email every month
Cons
Depending on what department you work for, you’re guaranteed to get bullied by one of the “managers” who has not been trained to deal with people and will constantly belittle you and make you feel stupid. You can report to HR but they will refuse to do anything and instead force you to leave because they will not address the problem. You’re overworked consistently and never receive any appreciation from upper management. If you need to escalate an issue, no manager or supervisor will assist you and you will have to deal with it yourself. Other staff will disappear from their desk on multiple occasions and refuse to answer phone calls, so you will constantly be taking calls back to back. Training is limited, if you do not have customer service experience, this job is not for you as you won’t get trained on how to deal with complicated and irrational people. Centralised phone system and HR and other departments turn off their phone so no one can contact them. So be warned a lot of your job will entail having to tell people they need to send an email. Company claims they support their employees and that they encourage flexibility, which is not the case unless your position is higher up the chain. If you’re big on company culture, this environment is high stress and full of work that is backlogged. For the salary it is not worth it unless you don’t care about any of the above reasons.
