    I worked at Yahoo full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Great pay and employee benefits. Beers on Friday afternoon. If you work weekday shifts lunch is provided. Most of the team very talented and a joy to work with. Management like to make sudden redundancies just before Christmas.

    Cons

    Tech-bro culture with toxic managers allowed to run rampant— not as bad as a lot of Sydney newsrooms but still makes for very low morale among exhausted staff in content division. Very intense shifts with no breaks, everyone eats at their desks. Emotional burnout very common. Workforce becoming increasingly casualised in order to cut corners and exploit young (mostly female) content makers. Absolutely no work-life balance.

    Lack long term vision. the JV is doing more harm then good. Better to cut ties with 7 and stay as Yahoo.

    The culture is fantastic. Lots of freedom and very easy to make friends. Lovely group of people. From a development perspective, you can learn skills fast and work on interesting projects

    Veteran employees who have little interest in seeing the status quo change
