Pros
Friendly team Ability to learn all areas of a project lifecycle Allowed to explore and build upon skills (as long as no cost to the company) Well laid out briefs with clear understanding Commission if you bring work in (both existing clients and new) Bonus' It's a great place to get a foot in the design world without the constraints of the larger companies Treat employees like adults, you can come in or leave an hour late for appointments and not repay the time, you're in control of how you manage your time, as long as everything is done on time and to budget.
Cons
Lack of work, the designer doesn't have much work (2 or 3 small projects a year) Management and internal team have a bit too much say on design Sale process not established enough to bring sufficient work in Even though you work hard you don't always get a bonus as sales doesn't meet their quota Base Salaries way below the average

Pros
The company was small and communication was tight, there was a clear focus on role delegation daily which gave a sense of clarity at the beginning of a working day.
Cons
There were tragic administration practices, with a file management system so confusing that staff often took 3 hours to figure out where the written material was stored and what the actual scope of a project was. The management was suspicious of web developers taking advantage of remote work and treated staff like children at times.
