Pros

Zeeco is very good at recruiting talented and dedicated employees. Pay is good for entry-level engineers. Interesting industry, and good opportunity to gain experience quickly.

Cons

My peers and I have come to describe employment at Zeeco as an abusive relationship. I have a dozen stories of former coworkers, GOOD employees who were pushed to their limits, given unsavory assignments far outside their job description, asked to behave unethically, unfairly compensated, etc. Personally, I was heavily overworked and made to feel that the world would collapse if I did not consistently put in long hours at the expense of my family. I observed a tremendous lack of appreciation toward countless coworkers who also worked long hours and made a lot of sacrifices for a company they felt a sense of loyalty toward but who did not return that same loyalty to its employees.

Pros

relaxed atmosphere and some good co-workers (those who have not quit)

Cons

You can clearly see that a family atmosphere used to exist. The people who have been there for 15 years talk about the times when hard work was rewarded and innovation was a part of the culture. Those times are long gone. Management only want "yes men". Those who disagree with even trivial decisions are quickly and relentless put down, ignored, and/or shamed. Management will completely disregard an idea if it comes from a subordinate, often not even attempting to listen to it (the exception is when they wait a week or so and claim it as their own idea). Management has succeeded by taking credit for the work of others and blaming every mistake on others. There is no room for professional growth as management are terrified of promoting competent people who could potentially threaten their position. The managers are mostly (but not entirely) good people at heart but have no training or skills in management. Roughly half of the employees carry the entire workload and are extremely overburdened. The other half spend most of their time getting other people to do their work for them or blaming others for their shortcomings. Field issues are continually ignored by office staff. Repeating issues in the field are completely ignored with little to no effort made to improve quality. Untested products are continually thrown into the field where R&D is done by those who have no input into design improvements. As soon as there is a basic understanding of how to make the design work, a completely different design is thrust upon the service people to figure out.
