- The client really does come before all else, including personal health - All employees burn out
- Salary is low. Low low. As in nearly every other agency in Boston offers double or more for the same jobs and experience level.
- Absolutely no recognition for good work. All recognition is focused on the CEOs and what they are doing for the company. Many times they would hold meetings to talk about revenue and all of the millions the company was making, while employees continued to be paid a miserable salary with abysmal benefits.
- Advertising is no joke. You only do this job because you love it and because you genuinely don't mind working late some nights to make the best stuff. 451 Marketing exploits this passion and turns it into borderline slave labor. Employees will regularly make it to work at 6am and will not leave until 7:30 at night. if by chance they do leave before 7:30, they are almost always doing work in their homes. Everyone, from analysts to VPs are expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays. But it's all for the client, right?
- CEOs are more than happy to put on a show. They buy fake decorations and office supplies to make it seem like more people work in the office. This came after they hilariously purchased a second floor of the building they are located in, despite the fact that they didn't have enough employees to fill the first floor. Again, i'm no stranger to advertising showmanship, but this is blatantly lying to clients and asking an entire company to comply and lie right along with them.
- EVPs are not qualified to do their jobs, period.
- Often times, they would win new biz based off of shady trade deals and pure lies, meaning employees worked more with no increase in salary.
- Company moral is so, so low. People hate working there, and often can't wait to leave. Sadly many stay. Maybe it's the good people (what a surprise, there are a few!) or Stockholm syndrome.
- Good place to learn what you don't want in a job.
