adMare has an important mission, but don’t expect to make much progress in achieving it.
Pros
Many of the staff are passionate and great to work with. Work-life balance - if you work 9 to 5, that’ll be more than most people. It could be a good stepping stone for moving from academic research to industry.
Cons
Decision making is obscure and there isn’t much communication about what is going on. Science should be at the core of what the organisation does, but over the last several years it seems to have been almost forgotten. Projects are shuffled and cancelled without explanation, and promises to partners not fulfilled. A reorganisation stripped out the middle tier of management that has not been replaced, leaving most of the staff without proper supervisors and unsure of their roles. Despite claims internally and externally about how training is one of adMare’s pillars, almost no effort is made to offer professional development opportunities to employees.
