Pros
Casual recruitment process, with no formal interview
Cons
Unsafe care being delivered. Senior managers showing shocking attitude towards service user safety (despite coming from the NHS), risk assessments, safe care delivery, or staff wellbeing. Senior managers spending £1000 a week on first class train tickets to hospitals and local.authority meetings, knowing that the service did not have the capacity to staff the contracts they were bidding for. No formal out of hours support, just whoever happens to pick up the phone on the weekend. Care management consisted of calling round carers (who are not directly employed, and so have no obligation to pick up care visits) offering more and more expensive uber journeys until someone agrees. Complete disrespect for team members, at startup stage, where developing a tight-knit team if likeminded, committed colleagues, is essential.
