Pros

The goals of the company are commendable and they are helping clients with their DE&I goals The client base are amazing and the individuals they deal with every day are important, empathetic and caring people in the DE&I field Some of the employees are professional, experienced, nice people.

Cons

Management * Lack of forward planning leading to the day-to-day feeling frantic and erratic * The company isn’t very outcomes focusses. There’s lots of micro-management and a lack of trust eg leadership having accessing and reading employees inboxes unnecessarily * There’s a lack of management/oversight and accountability for actions on certain teams, leaving others to pick up the slack * Lack of cohesive management approach. Sometimes people feel caught between different managers instructions * Many of the people working there are friends with the management team and were not hired based on merit or experience in that field * Asking questions seen as a weakness rather than an opportunity to foster a learning environment Negativity * The working environment is combative, argumentative, defensive and individualistic leading to a toxic and uncomfortable environment * Focus on perceived things that have gone wrong and scolding, rather than constructive analysis of how to do things better. There is little positive reinforcement * I was told that “we don’t pat people on the back for doing the job that we pay them to do” after I publicly congratulated a colleague for closing a good deal.  * Things being discussed between two people in a busy office that should be discussed privately in a 1:1 Work-life balance * I was told I was unprofessional for taking time off during a particular week where a company event was taking place, despite it being approved far in advance and the work event dates being decided at the 11th hour. * I was also told that I was unprofessional for taking a lunch break during an 11-hour work day * When I returned from a holiday and said I was catching up on emails, I was told “well maybe you should be checking your emails when you’re away”.

Pros

A small number of genuinely dedicated colleagues who joined believing in the company’s DEI mission and who try to do good work. The client portfolio includes organisations that sincerely care about diversity and inclusion, and working with them can be rewarding and meaningful. The role can be interesting in theory, with opportunities to see real impact at client level.

Cons

In my experience, the leadership culture was highly controlling and unsupportive. Senior managers often adopted a micromanaging style, and feedback was frequently framed in a critical rather than developmental way. Meetings were often called at very short notice with no agenda, and employees were expected to attend immediately regardless of workload. Constructive feedback or new ideas were not always well received. Some staff who questioned decisions or sought clarity appeared to be marginalised rather than supported. Praise or positive recognition was rare, and when results were achieved, staff were often reminded that this was simply “doing the job.” The culture at best felt inconsistent with the company’s external messaging on inclusion and wellbeing. I observed behaviour that left some employees feeling excluded, undervalued, or uncomfortable. There was no structured onboarding or clear professional development support. In my view, the company placed greater emphasis on loyalty to leadership than on competence or collaboration. The experience had a lasting impact on my confidence and mental health. It took me more than a year after leaving to feel ready to re-enter the job market. Caution: a particularly critical review appeared on Glassdoor describing similar issues sometime last year. Shortly afterwards, a series of very positive reviews were posted. I cannot confirm whether this was organised or coincidental, but prospective applicants may wish to read a broad range of reviews and form their own view. Final Note: It took me over a year after leaving to write this review because of how deeply the experience affected my wellbeing. I am sharing it now in the hope that it provides a balanced but honest picture for everyone.
