Smoke and mirrors

Pros

Great, talented and smart people who all wanted to see the company succeed

Cons

Leadership is completely confused and inexperienced. Can't stick with a decision for more than a week before changing course again. They say "trust" is a core value while providing no transparency and laying off hundreds of employees (over three rounds) in the course of just 4 weeks. The US CEO is nice at best but completely lacked basic empathy throughout the process, saying silly things like these "tough" decisions drove her to drink "too many margaritas." Employees were not made to feel safe, secure, or valued. Sadly we all joined because we wanted to work hard and see the company succeed, but many were let go before they even had a chance to perform.

Pros

Some really good people (used to work there) Good benefits

Cons

Part of fintech high valuation boom and subsequent crash CEO does not have a plan B 4 rounds of layoffs in just 6 weeks, going from headcount of 398 to 101! Bought chkplz, Sept'21, then closed it down and pulled out of Canadian market beginning Jul'22 along with Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and parts of US (to focus on a handful of cities in US only. Investors are American and other CEO based there) all in public domain, just google 'sunday lay offs' During each round of layoffs, told no more layoffs will be needed..... clearly there was no plan at all and still isn't....

horrible management team + company

Pros

the comp and benefits are solid

Cons

It's scary how poorly run this company is -- there are a bunch of smart people here, but the CEO (and the US CEO) are running the company in the ground, Blaming the market (even though they have no product-market fit in North America). It's scary how bad the company has been run, there may be a netflix documentary about it one day after how much money they raised and subsequently blew. A crazy lunatic - the CEO is often yelling and swearing at the sales people that they can't sell. He's a restauranteur who has no clue how to run a tech company, let alone a business other than a restaurant. The US CEO (two CEOs is a good idea, right?) is very junior - would probably be a director level at most tech companies. She fires her whole staff and the business is pitiful, no one trusts her or listens to anything she says. No trust or respect from anyone. Zero empathy or people skills. I've never seen two people (Christine and Victor) set our certain values and live so opposite to them. "Trust" they would always say, as they promise it's only one layoff (week after week there are more). The company is scary bad.. run fast.
