Not sure if uBeam even qualifies as a company.

Pros

Dog friendly office Benefits paid for 100%

Cons

Like being paid to sit and witness the ramblings of the mentally ill. The female head of the company was beyond delusional, and while I felt sorry for her at times, her delusions gave a complete false sense of reality. This company is more about a small group of engineers getting paid to run experiments than anything else. There is no chance this company will survive or succeed. Not a good career move in any way. I regret ever starting this job.

Working at uBeam so far

Pros

It feels like working in a lab in grad school, people are great to work with and will expand your knowledge because they will teach you. There are also weekly team lunches and trivia nights so you can quickly assimilate to the uBeam culture. The parking lot is literally right next to the sand so you're forced to look at the ocean when you drive in and leave every day.

Cons

Sometimes there is uncertainty with any project and there may be a sunk cost mentality. I also wish lunch was catered everyday instead of once per week . The people who leave move on to amazing opportunities but actually might show that uBeam is a great place to be for the experience.

It could be better now...

Pros

The technology was really exciting. Most of the people were great.

Cons

I was hired on false pretenses - I was told that there was upward mobility. For engineers, this is true. For everyone else, they don't bother. I worked there for over 2 years and my boss, the former CEO, flat out told me that I would never be promoted because she "hired me to be administrative" when I expressed a desire to move to a position with more responsibilities. It is probably much different now, since the people at the top have changed - I can only speak from my experience.
