Last week colleagues from across Boots UK stores, Support Office, warehouse and Boots Opticians raised an incredible £1.1 million for this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal.
The money raised by Boots UK this year will support projects that champion children’s mental wellbeing, encouraging young people to build resilience and confidence.
In addition, more than 400 colleagues volunteered through the night at the Customer Support Center, taking telephone donations and making Boots one of the biggest and busiest BBC Children in Need call centers in the country.
For over 135 years we have sought to bring the best of health and beauty to the city of Sheffield and last week we officially opened our new store of the future format in Meadowhall – the first outside London.
The 27,986 square foot store features brand new Beauty and Wellness halls, and will introduce exciting new brands, innovative experiences and access to expert advice. Customers can also visit the stylish new Pharmacy, Boots Opticians and Hearingcare spaces, creating a one-stop shop for all their beauty, healthcare and wellness needs.

Today is #WorldPharmacistsDay and at Boots, our pharmacists are at the heart of the local communities we serve. So we want to say thank you to every one of you for the amazing work you do everyday, making a difference to the lives of your colleagues, customers and patients!
Each year we celebrate the amazing work our colleagues do at our Best of the Best Awards. Earlier this month, we held our 2019 event in Coventry and it was a fantastic night recognising the achievements of teams and individuals. Well done to all those nominated and congratulations to everyone who won an award, including our team from Wadebridge store in Cornwall on being named Store of the Year 2019!
"This journey has just been incredible. I can't put into words how thankful I am to those at Boots who have provided me with the endless opportunities and supported me throughout the years... I have absolutely loved my Pre-reg and I'm sad to be leaving, but at the same time I can't wait for day one as a Pharmacist, working in my first ever store, 6447, where I met my husband-to-be and a lovely Line Manager who hired me at a time when I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my future career...
Needless to say this all holds a very special place in my heart and I'm truly thankful for all the support and guidance that got me here today. I'm so excited to start this new chapter, wear my new badge tomorrow and see where this takes me."
Thank you Anoushka, we can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
This weekend we attended Nottinghamshire Pride and were extremely proud to be the headline sponsor for this fantastic event for the first time in our home city where Jesse Boot opened his first store 170 years ago.
The day was a celebration of colleagues and customers and allowed us to showcase the 'Best of Boots' through our Health, Beauty and Careers stalls where we had lots of great conversations, gave away product samples and provided Pride inspired makeovers.
Thank you to all of our colleagues who came along to represent Boots, take part in the Pride march and show how at Boots, we champion you being you.

Earlier this month we held our annual two-day Let's Practice conference for 350 of our pre-registration pharmacy students to set them up for success as newly qualified pharmacists.
It's a great event for our pre-reg students to network, celebrate their achievements and prepare for their next steps. During the conference, we also share business updates, career opportunities and news from the pharmacy sector plus there is a special gala dinner in the evening.
On Thursday 4 July, we held our first ever ‘Women In Leadership’ conference. Hosted by Tracey Clements, Chief Operating Officer and Una Kent, Director of Communications, CSR and Archives, over 100 colleagues attended the session to learn more about creating a diverse and inclusive culture, and why it’s so important to our business.
The day included a fascinating look back through our history and how Florence Boot became one of the first female directors in the UK back in 1917, as well as being an advocate for staff health and wellbeing initiatives.
Other highlights of the day included an insightful panel discussion with some of our female leaders who talked about their career journeys and talks by three external speakers who discussed the latest research on culture, understanding brain gender difference, and the effects of menopause in the workplace.
