Energy Exemplar is turning 25 this year, and to ring in this major milestone, we’re traveling to our offices all over the world to celebrate. We’re wrapping up our festivities in Athens with our EMEA team. The day kicked off with a scavenger hunt that sent everyone running through the crowded streets. The hunt took us to some of Athens' most famous sites, including the historic Panathenaic Stadium, the vibrant Monastiraki Square, and the ancient Roman Agora. Everyone arrived at Kuzina for lunch. Kuzina's welcoming atmosphere provided a well-deserved break and a chance to share stories of the day. As the sun began to set, we headed to Moorings, a beautiful seaside venue, to wrap up our Celebration. With stunning views of the sea, we indulged in delicious food, laughed together, and danced the night away. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. Our Athens adventure was a testament to the incredible spirit of our EMEA Team. We explored a city rich in history and culture, strengthened our bonds, and created lasting memories. Here's to more adventures, more laughter, and many more celebrations together!
Energy Exemplar is turning 25 this year, and to ring in this major milestone, we’re traveling to our offices all over the world to celebrate. After APAC, we met in Orlando with our Americas team. We began the day bright and early with a group breakfast at the beautiful Grande Lakes hotel. We loaded into buses to head to Universal Studios, where we broke up into teams to compete in a scavenger hunt taking place across both parks. We congratulated the winners of the hunt and followed up the competition with lunch followed by a few hours riding rides and exploring Universal. We then headed back to the resort for a relaxing evening on the lawn. The live band ushered us in as we enjoyed a champagne toast, followed by a delicious dinner outfitted with a photo booth, caricature artists, a magician, and so much more. As we laughed, cheered, and celebrated together, we were reminded of the strength of our community and the shared experiences that have defined our journey thus far. Thank you for being part of the journey and cheers to the adventures that lie ahead!
Energy Exemplar is turning 25 this year, and to ring in this major milestone, we’re traveling to our offices all over the world to celebrate. After the IDC, we met up with our team in APAC. We started the day with breakfast, then we jumped onto buses and made our way to the beautiful Rochford Winery. Here we split into four teams and spent the beautiful sunny day cheese & wine tasting, wandering around the vineyards, wine blending and enjoying some fun team activities. We then left for dinner, an incredible fully immersive experience at the SEA LIFE Aquarium in Melbourne. Dinner was served in the breathtaking ‘oceanarium’ where the team was fully surrounded by a variety of sharks, turtles and fish swimming over our heads and right next to us as we ate. It was truly and incredible day spent with the whole APAC team, and we can’t wait for another amazing year ahead!
We might have the world-leading energy analytics platform at Energy Exemplar but without out over 400 talented people that work for us, we would not be where we are today. On a daily basis, our people across all departments, throughout all corners of the world, produce incredible work, innovate, and come up with new ideas that allow us to continuously push ourselves and the quality of our offerings to new heights. 🗣 We also actively ask our people for their feedback every 6 months, and we use this feedback to constantly improve our people initiatives and projects. 🥇 That is why we decided to host quarterly and annual Xemplify awards to recognise and spotlight individuals who have gone above and beyond. Our annual awards have 5 categories – Xemplifier, Rising Star, Customer Rockstar, Xemplary Leader & the Founder’s Award and 24 winners across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC! Congratulations to all winners and our nominees who numbered 15% of our total headcount. We are grateful for each and every one at Energy Exemplar.
As part of our StandUP Program, in June we announced that each region will be offered a volunteer opportunity to participate in before the end of 2023. We are happy to share that these events are getting underway! Each region will offer both in-person and virtual opportunities to ensure even those working fully-remotely can also contribute and participate. While we can all make a positive impact individually, we are excited to see what our One Global Team can do to make an even more significant impact within our local communities and regions. With that in mind, our first event has kicked off! On September 28, our Colorado colleagues (Kelly Dudenhoeffer, Gabriela Flores, and Jonathan Ecker) joined Protect our Rivers to help clean up the river and shore of the South Platte River in Denver. Protect our Rivers runs several events each year focused on river health and maintenance. Through their volunteer efforts, Kelly, Gaby and Jon helped to keep the river clean, which has a direct impact and benefit to their community. In total, all the volunteers collected 638 pounds of trash in a single afternoon. Great job, team!! To read more about Protect Our Rivers contributions, check out their 2022 Impact Report.
Our final Xcelerate Ed. event of the week: Hanoi, Vietnam! 🇻🇳 🌱As Vietnam embarks on PDP8 changes that are shaping the future of the country’s energy landscape, we had the privilege of bringing together some of the most influential leaders that are embarking on this challenge. Here are some of our key takeaways: ⚡ Energy demand in Vietnam will continue to grow, driven by increased economic activities and a wealthier society. At the same time, Vietnam needs to balance energy security with their ambitious decarbonisation target. ⚡ Market liberalisation and portfolio diversification creates opportunities for structural changes, but also disruptions. Modeling is required to reap the benefits of these changes while managing risks. ⚡ PDP8 has become the guidebook for long term investments in Vietnam. However, reaching the goals provided in the PDP8 requires efforts in areas such as project finance, foreign investment policies, demand response regulations, etc. ⚡ EVN has led the way in using cloud in running their hydro-intensive model, gaining the benefits from reduced run times and faster decision making. ⚡ Modeling decarbonisation scenarios in Vietnam is not only the task of the government. Many private sector members also need to conduct modeling to realise the potential decarbonisation can bring. Thank you to our attendees and speakers for a very insightful day of learning and networking. ✨ Ben Davis (Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), Mr. Nguyen Dong H
🌍 Energy Exemplar’s latest stops: This week our APAC team are running two of our Xcelerate Ed. events in Manila and Hanoi. Here are some of our highlights from Xcelerate Ed. Philippines: ⚡ As power grids adapt to the green energy transition, modelling is playing an important role in creating a data driven decision making framework. ⚡ The approach of relying on assumptions and personal opinions can lead to an environment of contention. Modelling helps to create an environment of collaboration as the data gets scrutinised when results differ. ⚡ Whilst private companies wish for more information from the government planners, it is highlighted by the planners that this is a two-way street and there is a need for enhanced bi-directional information flows. ⚡ Current technology available to off-grid communities with constrained land resources are a major challenge in the Philippines ‘Missionary’ areas. New technologies such as floating solar are being seriously considered as a result. Key Themes: transparency, effective collaboration, public private data sharing and openness, technology fit challenges for smaller grids (off-grid). A huge thank you to our panelists: Fernando Roxas (National Power Corporation (Napocor), Monalisa Dimalanta (Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Philippines), Felix Fuentebella (Department of Energy Philippines), Miguel De Jesus (ACEN), Shimri Rodelas (Powersense Incorporated) & Edward Olmedo (Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines,
