What great news for our North America Campus team 🥳 We are so pleased to share that our North America Intern program has been recognized as one of the top 100 internship programs, as announced today by Yello and WayUp. Proud to see the hard work and dedication of the team recognized. They are the ones who make our internship programs the success they are 😊 Internships have become such an important part of our organization and the opportunities they provide for not only students, but for our global teams are endless. On this National Intern Day we would like to thank all of our great interns, past and present, for helping us make this a top 100 intern program. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT #NationalInternDay
1,634 miles / 2,629 kilometers / 8,627,520 feet 🚴♂️🚴♀️ Last week Northern Trust employees Jeremy Svejdar, David Roberts, Karla Cassar and Eugene Foo led a brave team of volunteers on a 24-hour cycling challenge in our London office. Following a very challenging but fun filled 24 hours, we are delighted to report the team exceeded their target of 1477 miles and covered a total of 1634 miles! The purpose behind the event was to draw attention and awareness to three great charities: • Farleigh Hospice • Cancer Research UK • Save the Children UK Over the course of the 24-hour period, we saw over 80 employees give up their time and join the team in the saddle. We would like to give a special mention and thank you to everyone who came to cycle, to support and who helped promote the event. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Back by popular demand, we hosted the 2024 Northern Trust Take Your Child to Work Day (TYCTWD) yesterday across several locations. We were thrilled to see nearly 400 kids aged between 8 and 18 take part in the event, visit our offices, discover what life is like at Northern Trust and learn how we serve the communities we live and work in. We had an action-packed agenda for them on the day. We showcased some of our STEM projects, held a competitive Office Olympics, the kids learned all about Cyber-Security, and heard from several of our teams across the organization. Aligned to Northern Trust’s focus on giving back to the community, each of the attendees designed cards throughout the day to support Cardz For Kidz. As always, the tours throughout the Bank Vault and Command Center really sparked the kids minds on security within our organization and were one of the main highlights on the day. “As they say it takes a village to raise a child, but as a business resource council it is worth all the time and effort in running these events when we see the rewards from initiatives such as this at our organization.” Christy Furtado (Volk), Working Families Business Resource Council Chair. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Mentoring matters at Northern Trust This week many of our senior leaders met with our 2024 Rotational Development Program (RDP) class during their orientation week at our Chicago headquarters. Fun fact - this year's class had a record total of 54 within it. Our leaders welcomed the class of 2024 and shared their career journeys, lessons learned along the way and how they’re empowering their teams to deliver on our global strategic initiatives. During the program, participants rotate through various functions of our wider business including Asset Servicing, Asset Management and Corporate Finance. With this, our RDP cohort can find their best fit, while also developing their professional skills and being given valuable mentoring sessions with our senior leaders. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
This time last week our Northern Trust London team welcomed Investment2020 and Haggerston School into its office for an exploratory day into the world of financial services. Year 10 students learned about the wide history of Northern Trust, the different services we offer our clients and heard from current apprentices about the expectations vs. reality of working in financial services. The day also featured a speed networking session with Northern Trust partners, tours along the floors of 50 Bank Street and a lesson about encryption. Students also got to participate in a ‘Break the Bank’ exercise that highlighted the importance of data security. Access Granted! 🙂 Thank you to all who participated on the day and all the coordination and enthusiasm that went into making it such a successful visit. #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Hard to believe our North America Summer Interns are fast approaching the halfway mark of their time with us. No matter what office they are in with us, we endeavor to arrange a number of social events for them throughout their time with us. These can vary from a trip to a baseball game, a dinner out in the city or a post work drink at headquarters. These social events are a core part of our internship and early career programs. They facilitate relationship building and networking between not only our intern groups but also with our wider teams and partners. Here are some of the best pics from their recent social events. Keep an eye out for more updates from our 2024 summer interns over the coming weeks, they have a busy few weeks ahead 😊 #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
Earlier this week we saw 60 partners from our office in London participate in the JP Morgan corporate challenge. 🏃♀️🏃♂️ Runners were tested with a 5.6km circuit around Battersea Park. Proud of our team’s efforts and collective spirit on the day. Congratulations to all the runners on the day and those who represented Northern Trust so well 😊 #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
We have released our latest Sustainability Report, highlighting our efforts to create better and more sustainable futures for our clients, employees, shareholders, communities and the world we live in.
In celebration of Reserves Day on June 26th and Armed Forces Day on June 29th, our employee led Military Appreciation and Assistance Business Resource Council (MAARC) joined forces with our Women in Leadership Business Resource Council in our London office where we heard from former military personnel Jeannie Saville and Bridget Forster. Our MAARC Co-Chair, David Brooks led a conversation with Jeannie and Bridget who walked our London team through their time in the British Army, exploring some of the challenges they have both faced during their careers and their top tips for navigating successful careers as senior female leaders. MAARC helps lead Northern Trust’s activities in support of our serving Armed Forces, Veterans, Reservists, Cadets, Military spouses/partners, and families. We are proud gold award signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and have recently been recognised as being in the top 50 employers of Veterans in the UK. “Armed Forces week and Reserves Day are both great opportunities for us to celebrate and take a moment to appreciate some of the sacrifices our Military service members make in the defence of our national interests. We were delighted to be joined by Bridget Forster and Jeannie Saville who walked Northern Trust colleagues through some of the fascinating experiences, challenges, and successes they faced during their time as British Army Officers.” David Brooks #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
New Northern Trust India (Bangalore) Office Tour In March this year, we opened our new office in Bangalore, now home to over 5,000 partners. We are proud to say this state-of-the-art facility will continue to drive value for all stakeholders. Fun fact - it is 80% powered by clean energy. Can you see yourself working there? #MadeForGreater #LifeAtNT
